What an odd gift.....

I just finished my cousins wedding gift shopping online, from her registry. Most of the things on the registry were far more expensive then my $100 budget, so I opted to get an assortment of smaller things. She ended up with a pasta colander, a spoonula, a cooking utensil set, and some cheese spreaders. Seems like an odd gift, but well, the things were all pretty pricey and this arrangement ended up at like 110$ total.

Will she think it is weird when she opens it? Brides & grooms, is this the norm? A weird assortment? It is all stuff she wants so I hope she likes it.

And for the record, I was shocked to see that the one thousand dollar coffee machine was fulfilled, as was the fifteen hundered dollar set of cookware, and several of the other high ticket items. Must be HIS side of the family Way to go cousin!

Nothing wrong with what you got.

When my niece got married her registry list was very pricy. I ended up getting all cook out type things off the registry - deviled egg plate, corn holders, shish kebob skewers, etc.

WOW! Even what you got seems like it shouldn't cost $100. Where do you live? LOL! And those other gifts? Glad I'm not invited!

But to answer your question... I think what you got sounds just fine. I also usually spend about $100 for a relative's shower. My DD was married this summer. She had a nice assortment of price ranges on her registry( although nothing near your cousin's range). A few people gave her the same type of assorted gifts. I see this at most showers, too. You'll be fine.


Make sure you post about the wedding... if the shower is any indication it should be quite a party!!

We had a gift registry and got married longer ago then that

I think it is fine, if they registered for it they wanted it so you just filled in the gaps someone else left .

I can't imagine a $1000 coffee maker-it sure as heck better make the coffee itself and serve it in bed for that price

We had a low key wedding...I didn't have a bridal shower or a registry. We had already lived together for 5 yrs. so we really didn't need anything.

I hate it when people do that. I had a friend that had these salt and pepper shakers on hers for like $175 each!!! And she does NOT come from money, so I have no idea who she thought was going to buy them for her. When it happens to us, we usually just give a check with the amount we feel appropriate - or what we can afford.


ETA - I just wanted to say that the reason I don't like it is, no one NEEDS a $175 salt shaker/grinder! I mean, before I had kids, I would think, whatever they want, not my problem, and I still feel that way, but now I just see so many other things they could spend that money on. Plus, $175 for a salt shaker/grinder - and she wasn't a very good cook!! LOL

I think it's fine. She wants all of them.

I ended up doing something similar for a friend. The moderately priced items were gone, the pricey ones were too much so I just completed her registry for all the little items. It was about $150 worth of spoons and kitcehn gadgets.

The best part was that some of the items were back ordered. She ended up receiving about 5 packages consisting of 1 spoon or spatula or other tiny item. She said it was definitely the most memorable wedding gift (Oh look - a spoon. Two days later - oh look, another spoon).

If it's on her registry, it's clearly stuff she wants, so I think it's a great gift. Like a PP said, throw it together in a basket with a box of pasta and a jar of sauce and you have a "Pasta Basket".
