Just returned last night from an amazing weekend of running in WDW!:cool1:

I have been a Disney fan for as long as I can remember, so when I took up running about 1 1/2 years ago, I set my goal of running in the WDW 1/2 marathon. I ran one other 1/2 last May so that I would know what to expect running-wise. I am glad that I did, because I knew that I could finish the WDW 1/2, and I could just focus on the fun.

THANK YOU so much to everyone on these boards! All of the advice, tips, and tidbits of information that I learned from here really helped to make the weekend more magical!

I cannot think of a better way to bond with your 17 y.o. DD, than to get up at 4:00 a.m. and run a 5k through EPCOT! We had a blast stopping for some photos, and proudly wearing our finisher medals all day at the parks!

The WDW 1/2 was much more than I expected. Disney sure knows how to put on a race! Everyting was top-notch...the Expo, transportation from our resort (CBR), entertainment, the race itself, and the cool Donald Duck medal! I stopped for about a dozen photos on the race course, and while in line, chatted with many other runners from around the world who were just as excited and happy to be there as I was.

As I was laying in bed on Sunday morning, thinking how good it felt to sleep in, I was also thinking about the marathoners out on the course, and how much I admire them. I also felt a little jealous, and like maybe I was missing out on something. I have always told myself that I would never do a full marathon, because of all of the time involved in training, but who knows.....:)

Couldn't agree more - we did our first marathon weekend and look forward to next year already. Amazing how Disney can be so organized. We had someone in a race each morning so there was no sleeping for us this past weekend. I did the 5K on Friday and am moving up to the 1/2 next year. I am not a runner like the rest but will run/walk and will be happy to finish. DH ran the 1/2 marathon and loved stopping for pictures along the way. DD ran her first marathon yesterday with a friend. They did amazing and only walked once when DD's friend tweeked a knee. DD wanted the ran to be fun so she had a Snow White tutu and that was actually let us know where she was in the crowd when we were watching along the way. Disney sure does know how to do it right.

Congratulations to you both!! The 2014 Princess 1/2 is my goal!! I'm currently training for a 10K to be ran in April and will pick up the 1/2 marathon training after that! I woked up Sunday morning (when it was cold and rainy here) and thought about all the fun you runners were having this weekend!!
