What American accent do you have?

Judging by how you talk you are probably from north Jersey, New York City, Connecticut or Rhode Island. Chances are, if you are from New York City (and not those other places) people would probably be able to tell if they actually heard you speak.

They were spot on-born and raised right outside of New York City in Northern NJ. :thumbsup2

First of all I MUST have a french accent :teeth: , but when I speak English, I have a Northeast accent (North Jersey, NYC, Connecticut or Rhode island) :) .

Result: South. I would say that is right, I'm a Texan.

I got Northeast!!

What a suprise. I always say that no matter where I move to, everyone will know exactly where I'm originally from the second I open my mouth.. if not by the accent then it will be by the speed of my speech!

I got:

That's a southern accent you've got there. You may love it, you may hate it, you may swear you don't have it, but whatever the case, we can hear it.

I have a Midland accent, according to the quiz. I've lived in Florida my whole life. I used to have a really thick drawl when I was little, though. :teeth:

The Inland North

You may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary" but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?" Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop."

Boy that hit that nail on the head.

The West.

"Your accent is the lowest common denominator of American speech. Unless you're a SoCal surfer, no one thinks you have an accent. And really, you may not even be from the West at all, you could easily be from Florida or one of those big Southern cities like Dallas or Atlanta."

Born and raised outside Chicago. But I do have a nasel sounding "A" sound (chi-CAH-go) and I do use "pop" as often as "soda", so I do have a bit of a twang!

Your Result: The Midland

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.

Your Result: The Northeast

Im from New Jersey so thats werid.

Subscribing. The link is blocked here at work. I want to remember to try it again when I get home.

Northeast....

No surprise there...even though I have been in MD for the past 4 yrs I am a Rhode Islander through and through. My accent is a good combination of New York and Boston....wait til I move home to RI this summer for 6 months!

Traveled everywhere and always get asked about me and my family's accent....yup BOSTON.... :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Was in Disney shopping in a gift shop and talking to each other and the CM overheard us and asked if we were from Boston as she had friends in Boston and we sounded like her friends. :teeth:

We were in Myrtle Beach...same thing...shopping, everyone talking..."buy this, what do you think of this, omg, this is wicked cool" and the clerk in the gift shop..."are you all from Boston". :teeth:

The best one was PIKES PEAK...we climbed Pikes Peak in CO...(actually drove up) again a huge crowd of us on vacation and the clerk checking us out..."ooo, you all must be from Boston". :teeth:
