Spur of the moment trip. Air and hotels are booked but now I need to understand the dining plan. I want to book the tickets so all my planning is done but I do not understand the dining option. Staying onsite but when I go to book tickets I am confused. 3 day ticket then they ask if you want the food package but I see no where to make it for 3 days. It just brings up $59 for two.
Help. I want to finish these plans.

I don't recommend the dining plan. It is a very limited plan that only allows you to eat at a few counter serve restaurants. You will eat much better if you just dine without it.

I also suggest that you order your tickets from undercovertourist.com They are cheaper there. However, if you need to pick them up at the park, just order from universalorlando.com

i wouldn't call the meal deal promo "dining"...............

i have done it but only when i stay for 10 days onsite.
it's time consuming for me and i have to juggle my schedule to make the meal deal worth the costs.

once you are at the parks, you can decide if the meal deal is something you want to buy.
you can purchase it about anywhere in the parks.

it does not include the beverages.
that is a separate package.

best bet is to buy a butterbeer in the souvenier cup.
use that cup for refills at a discount price of $ .89.
refills of soda that is, not butterbeer.

also know that we went during Spring Back - (just got home we were there last Mon, Tues, Wed)

and didn't have reservations! Walked up to 3 Broomsticks and was seated within 10 min (basically no line!) went once just for butter beer and dessert, in the evening, twice for breakfast (we really loved going on Forbidden Journey first, then eating breakfast and making plans for the rest of the day!)

went to Mythos for dinner - showed them my room key to the resort - and while there were 3 others waiting, we were seated right away!

Thank you all! This is exactly what I needed to know. A little crazy booking 3 days out so I am looking for this exact informatiion. DH is in MX and said go! for Easter and visit my parents So I will take my DS and have a breif vacation before I fly to MX. All I have left to do is book park tickets and a car.
Thank you a gain. I will pay OOP for any meals we need. I knew I could count on you all for the info I needed:worship:

scbelle, there are many places in the parks that scumpcious food.

one place that is overlooked by many is Boulangerie's in the studios.
when you enter the park, the first "street" to the right that takes you past T2, is located on that corner.

they make fresh crossiant and roll sandwiches.
they have so many Cheesecake Factory items for dessert.

you can sit inside or outside on the patio and people watch, or watch the characters come out from the Lucy Tribute area.

i love tuna sandwich on the roll.
it has the sides of potato salad and a slice of cantaloupe and strawberry on the plate.
if you have AAA or the UO AP, you can get 10% off this meal.
i think it was under $8 what i paid for it.

the cheesecake $ amount is not included in that above figure......

there are a few other places i always get food or snacks at.
the pastries, yum
ben and jerrys yum

i love Louie's pizza and caesar salad.
the meatball sandwich also is a hit for me.

you'll probably enjoy being able to eat at all or any of the places instead of limiting yourself to only 3 cs in the studios.
Mel's is on the list for that park and i quit going to it some years back.
i gave it 3 tries and now avoid it.

the place is too unpredictable on the quality of food when i ordered there.
when i am hungry, i don't want to eat something that has the yucky edge to it just because i paid for it.

if you have the time, Finnegans is one of my favorites.
i discovered the scotch eggs two years back there and love them.
their bangers and mash i prefer over the same dish at Rose and Crown.

you do not need ressies for any of the above places in the studios.

I second the Boulangerie!!! They are very well priced and fresh and delicious. They also offer some good vegetarian options as well as many nutritious options.

I third it!

We went - for a "boost" I know dd got the fruit plate - it was delicious - mom got the key lime pie - it was delicious -

I will say that the strawberry flan - well, it wasn't what I expected - it was made with marzipan and that was very sweet -

it was a great spot to sit and watch - we saw Scooby Doo and the Woodpeckers - it was fun!

We also enjoyed the Lucille Ball "museum" (we went with my 74 year old mom, so she really loved talking about different things from that era!)

Thank you for all the information! Everything sounds wonderful. It's lunch hour and I'm hungry. I never thought about taking my AAA card for a discount. So no to the dining plan and I'll go to the places you suggested. I thought about making reservations for Mythos. Do I need to?

It is easy at opentable.com

Take a look at the food sticky for other dining options.
