So I booked our stay online a few months ago and put in the request box : waterview, King bed, corner room. Like I had read to do, I called 5 days out and spoke with a very nice cast member. I requested "no parking lot view" and a pack n play. She said that our reservation was noted and they would do their best.
We arrived today and were given a parking lot view. Double beds. Definitely not a corner room and there was no pack n play. Seriously, do they even read the requests? I know our request was available, because when I called, they easily moved us to a landscape view room. Super frustrating though.
With that being said, Pop is a beautiful resort.

Have you considered that pretty much everything at Disney the last 5 days is completely higgldey-piggledy due to extended stays, hurricanes, and etc.?

What happened in room assignment vs. situation on the ground is not exactly business as usual.

They just got done with a historic shut down and threat of a hurricane so I would try to cut them some slack. Also requests are just requests. If a parking lot is apart of the view you booked then no matter how much you request no parking lot it is still very possible you'll get a parking lot.

Well, you arrived the day after a major hurricane went through, and operations were most definitely not normal. Guests overstaying their reservations, probably last minute evacuees from Fort Wilderness or even the coast. Room assignments were a jumble, I'm sure. Not to mention staff pulled off their regular duties helping out with hurricane prep and recovery, and feeding guests who'd been confined to their rooms for a day.

I think it's kind of miraculous that you ended up in the landscape view room, after all that.

Hurricane changed everything this week, many folks were moved to POP from campground. If they were staying beyond today any room they were put in is not available.

Just curious, and anyone correct me if I'm wrong .....

When making online requests I don't recall it offering King bed or corner room as an option.
And I thought you could only choose two requests. Pack & Play is not part of that.
What may have happened with Pack & Play is maybe it was in your other room, you changed your room.
Again, tough few days at the resorts.

And those King & Corner would be a limited number of rooms available.
According to room maps I think other than the handicapped rooms there is only about 30 with King beds.
I don't see any advantage to a corner room since there is no side window, only disadvantage since they are farthest from elevators or by the elevators and stairs.

POP does offer Lake View. But those are all standards. The rooms you listed on your other post are both preferred so I am going to assume you booked preferred. None have lake views so that request wouldn't be factored in since you would be paying more for preferred.

I have stayed at POP often and used to always call in my requests, they stopped meeting them. As soon as I did online check-in requests, I got what I wanted every time.

Have a great trip!

To answer your question - What you are doing wrong is 2 things
1) Making too many requests. There is no way that combination of requests could reasonably be met
2) Expecting to get what you want.
I also read your other thread from yesterday. You seem to have been on a mission and you set yourself up for major disappointment.
Try and enjoy your vacation - you are at Disney.
(And try to have some understanding for what the staff have been through this week)

Not to pile on, but Holy Smokes! You had quite a list of requests that would be crazy on a good day. When you add the hurricane, folks stranded, and many additional accomodations that needed to be made for a multitude of guests, you have got to give them some slack.

A request is a request. 5 Requests is at least 3 too many in my opinion, and when you factor that hurricane, any other than a room that is clean is too many to expect.

I totally get that there was a hurricane, we just lived thru it in Jax and it took a lot of extra work for us to even get here :)

When reserving online, in the box is where I wrote in my requests and stated "in this order: lake view, etc"

I only made 3 room requests, lake view, King and corner. I had always read, limit it to three. It wasn't until I called a week before the ressie that I asked for no parking lot view, which I thought would be easier than a lake view room. I didn't consider it a 4th request, I thought I was softening the lake view request to give us better odds. Also, like someone said, I didn't think a pack n play was a room request, just an extra that I was told was offered. So, really, it was only 3 requests, right?
I also knew that some stays had probably been lengthened with hurricane, and prepared myself for a full resort, but this place is pretty empty, to be honest. Also, if they didn't have the room type I requested, I get it, but they did, because they quickly moved us to one. Which brings me back to the fact that they didn't even read the requests :(

ETS: The king is better for us, just in hat it allows more floor room for the pack n play

No, you still made more than 3 requests. Anything you note as wanting is a request. I won't even make 3, as the more you make the more the odds are of them looking at your list of requests, and saying Forget It. Keep it simple. Don't note one thing and then call in with other things.

Keep in mind requests are requests. Be thankful they were able to move you to a room you like, instead of complaining about it.

No, you made more than three. You knew when you came in the entire resort was just regrouping from a major catastrophe and you chose to go anyway. I would have as well. I woudl not have expected anything other than a room at that point though.

Maxiesmom is right. You made too many, called in with conflicting requests, and managed to expect everything even under extraordinary circumstances. Be glad they moved you.

On a normal trip, one that I don't consider to have any abnormal glitches, I make one request. That's it. And I hope it happens, but know it may not. I request connecting rooms if we book two rooms. I request large balcony if I stay at the BC. Nothing else.

From the assignor perspective, there is no such thing as a "parking lot view" or "no parking lot view." Neither is a bookable category. (For that matter, King isn't bookable at POP and that's your trade off in staying Value.)

Keeping requests in bookable categories goes far in making them possible.

When you say "lake view" do you actually mean "pool view"? Or a side lake view of some nature? I'd honestly like to know your room number, because the room map I'm looking at over on touringplans has absolutely 0 of what you're requesting, together, listed.

I don't see the purpose in requesting particular "views" at values or mods. Your basic view is through the windows into the outdoor corridor and whatever lies beyond that. And how much time are you really going to spend admiring the view anyway? I can see it in a deluxe with a balcony, but not at the value and mod resorts.

I mean, we were in the most coveted building at CSR (Bus. Class), and I cannot tell you what our "view" was beyond the covered corridor and the shrubbery along that. The lake was beyond that, but I'll be darned if we spent much time with our noses pressed against our room windows staring at it. We saw it every time we walked anywhere anyway.

And those King & Corner would be a limited number of rooms available.

Not limited. Nonexistent.

Only 5% of the rooms at Pop have king beds. More than half of those are handicap-accessible. Probably by now the OP realizes requests are requests, not guarantees. But still, most likely requesting the impossible combined with what was presumed available five days in advance created the situation where she didn't get any of her requests.

How many people in your party? 3 or 4? If it is 4 and you assumed one child would sleep in the king bed with you, That may be why you got a double room.

It is the expectation of requests such as these at Value resorts, with guests subsequently getting upset to the point of posting on an internet forum, that will ultimately kill the requests for everyone.

I have done a ton of travel around the world (business and vacation) and quite frankly it shocks me when I see the entitlement in posts like this. You are paying for a hotel room in a lower end resort, nothing more and nothing less. Don't expect the world.
