We're going to WDW next week.:Pinkbounc
As a confirmed scrapaholic, imagine my happiness at discovering that there is a LSS at DTD. Has anyone been there? Do they have a large selection?
I'm specifically interested in an album that says Walt Disney World on the cover. All we have here locally is the Sandylion album with Mickey on the front. While it's nice, I'd prefer something more specifically geared to vacationing at the world. Or maybe something with more of the classic characters than only Mickey.
Any other scrapping "must haves" sold only at this store?
Thanks,

Disney's Wonderful World of Memories has more than one scrapbook style to choose from, so hopefully you will find something you like! :D

Other must haves include the Mickey head eyelets, the castle punch (if it is in stock - it sells out fast), and you may want to take a look at the new new paper book and some of the new kits. While I don't care for the die cuts that come with the kits, I like the paper and there are more than enough stickers included to finish a bunch of layouts.

Tip: if you are looking for the Halloween kit, Memories doesn't have it but the Christmas shop does. I used it for our MNSSHP photos from last year and it was just perfect!

This sounds great. I can't wait to see this store. Do any of the albums say Walt Disney World on them? Are they post bound, 3 ring, all of the above? (I've been looking for something like this since our last trip in 2000).
Thanks,

As an avid scrapper I was very disappointed with the scrapbook store. I did get the Mickey eyelets and they were cute.

I got a leather type 3 ring 12x12 binder for about $28. There were 2 another postbound 12 x 12 albums (one was Tinkerbell and the other Pooh characters with the numbers 04)

The smaller (i don't know 4x6) tinkerbell album was on clearance and has black pages inside. I got one to make a grandparents album.

They have page kits but it wasn't my style of scrapping, you make like them.

Also have you seen the new Jolee's due out at the end of the month??? TOOO CUTE!!!

Let me know if I can answer any questions - I was just there last week!

Phooey, that does sound a bit disappointing. I was hoping to find a 12 x 12 top loading in either post bound or 3 ring that has a cover with the WDW logo or maybe lots of characters or scenes from the World.
In 2000, I saw an 8 1/2 x 11 3-ring that had a color-blocked cover with Mickey, Goofy, Donald, etc. and had the WDW Logo emblazoned across the front (at the World of Disney store in DTD). It would have been perfect for our family's Disney vacations album. I didn't buy it because I do 12 x 12 albums and figured I'd be able to find something similar later. Well, I could kick myself for not picking one up.
It seems the Disney folks don't realize what the demand would be if they promoted the idea of WDW vacation scrapbooks and all the requisite products that would entail.
The Mickey eyelets and castle punch sound like must-haves. What are the new Jolee's like?

I am nearly 100% that the Tinkerbelle, Pooh, and Leather albums are 3 ring binder style with top loading pages...I remember looking at them and my father trying to convince me I needed one...I think they're actually what you're looking for. These were definitely available in 12x12 size. I LOVE the eyelets! They're the bigger size, and difficult to spread, but SO cute! The hole punch...I didn't buy it. I wanted a Mickey head one. Seems stupid that they would have a castle and NOT a Mickey head. I also got the scissors that put Mickey heads peeking over the edge...I wouldn't buy those. I think they're difficult to use and despite the wax paper and aluminum foil tricks, they just don't work right. I like the kits, but you'll have to look to see if they're your style. The Jolee's stuff...if you're familiar with this brand, then think of how the wedding dresses, etc are only with the princess dresses. There are others, but that's all I remember right now. Enjoy the store, but if you have an AP and get the discount at WoD, you can buy most of the stuff there and get the discount rather than paying full price at the scrapbook store. That's what I did.

DON'T BUY THEIR ALBUMS!!!! Unless you're ready to cut down every single page!! :(

I bought three in November. (I have 3 boys and do books for each of them.) I got all excited while putting my pages in because they all fit... I didn't have to cut any down. THEN I started to turn the pages and they buckled!! I'm used to CTMH that have an extra little piece of plastic on the page protectors so the pages are not so close to the spine. Not the case with these books. Although they were a great deal (only $25 and you get CS packages with each book), they just don't work for me. There are some layouts I just couldn't cut down. I guess if you start by cutting them all down and then working on that smaller page, you'd be okay, but I have a Monster's Inc layout that the title stretches the entire width of the page and I can't cut it down. I'm pretty bummed. Also the spine is almost "folded" so you can't add too many pages.

Maybe if you're interested in the 3 ring binder type, that would be the way to go.

wdwaurora: I too bought those mickey head sissors. I have an additional problem with the scissors in that I am left-handed. I am not aware of the foil technique that you mention. Does this help keep the mickey ears in line? Can you tell me how it works? Thanks, Anna

basically you cut aluminum foil, supposedly it sharpens the scissors

Diane, I use CTMH albums too. You're right, once you get used to the CTMH quality, nothing else seems to measure up. (I think Dalee and Club Scrap come close).
The only exception is when I intentionally do a "cute" album geared towards the kids. For example, DD5's album is the Sandylion album with the Disney Princesses on the cover. I couldn't resist!

It's 12x12, black "fuzzy" with fireworks and Walt Disney World 2004 on the front. There also about 6 slots to put pictures on the cover.

I also saw a cool one with the Magic Mickey on the front with swirls and sparkles, but that wasn't in the Scrapbook store that was in the World of Disney store (I think that's what it was called. Also in DTD)

I have been spending the last few days planning out my album. I'm really nervous, because I've never done a 12 x 12 layout before and because it was our first trip to Disney and I want it to be "perfect". Yeah. I know. Just start already...

I bought a few kits at the store, but honestly, for the most part they are kind of cheesy. There are a few elements in there that I like, but since I didn't want to bore DH with being there for too long, I kind of rushed my selections.

I found much better stuff on the Internet this morning. Guess I should stop thinkin' and start croppin'!!!

KimberAnn is there a store in Downtown Disney specifically for scrapbooking? I don't remember seeing it when I was there a couple of years ago.

Yes, but it's waaay in the back of Marketplace. I had known it was there because I read about it somewhere, so when we got to DTD we looked at the Map. I probably wouldn't have found it otherwise, because it was quite a walk from where we parked (By planet hollywood).

Thanks, I will have to look for that store in May when we go to disney.

Greetings, fellow scrapbooking addicts! I must admit that I, too, was a bit disappointed with the DTD scrapbook store. That is not to say that they didn't have some cute items there (which I did purchase); however, I was expecting much more. After all, photographs are the one thing you can take away with you and preserve for future enjoyment. I thought Disney would have a huge selection and tons of papers, stickers, stamps, journaling templates, etc. I have had better luck with my local store. In short, check it out but don't expect a lot!

In the fact Disney is rather new to the "exclusive" products (DL didnt have more than 2 things in Nov...) I would assume that its so new they dont have much yet...

I shall have to seek this store out even though I dont plan on buying much. After doing 8 disney books- Ive kinda exausted most of the "disney" aspects... :P

Hi

Could someone post a picture of what the 2004 logo is for Disneyworld on the scrapbooks this year? Also does anybody have pics of the scrapbooks that they sell on the cruises?

Thanks!
Crista
