What AKL room view is closest to the lobby?

Hey DISers! I had my first stay "at home" at AKL in September. I had a studio with a savanah view on the 5th floor. The room was nice, but it was FAAAARRRRRRR from the lobby. Can anyone tell me what view I should request in the future so I'll be closer to the lobby? Please help!

got a standard room with a pool view - the lobby was right next to me. Wonderful studio! 5408 for the studio.

right next to the staircase - so getting to the buses, gift store was not a problem - just a short walk to the elevators to get to the Maria's.

the view wasn't that great - mostly a view of the roof. but the room was in a great location!!!

the only problem I had was no ice machines on the DVC floor. just those trash areas. so I had to go down to the 4th floor for ice.

The savanna views are distributed throughout the resort so if you book that category you could be steps from the lobby or have the furthest walk from the lobby! If you want to be guaranteed to be as close as possible to the lobby then the booking categories to consider would be:

1. Concierge: located on the 6th floor on either side of the lobby, but they are the most expensive rooms and the hardest to book

2. Standard View: located around the pool area, just off the lobby

3. Value: located along the hallways at the front of the resort with views of the Sunset Savanna, the pool or the parking lot.

This drawing shows where these room categories are located within the resort. The area marked in lime green shows the location of the Value villas. The Standard View rooms are marked in yellow. The Concierge villas are marked in pink. Everything else is Savanna View. Oh and the orange blobs are GVs.

forgot - this unit was also very close to the laundry mat. So they have the laundry mat and they are free!!!

You need your key to open the door. I guess to kept out the other AKL guests from using the free laundry.

Am I seeing this right or does it look like the GV's would not necessarily have some of the nicer views of the Savannah?

Not to hijack - but has anyone stayed in one of the new GV's yet?

haven't stayed there - but one time walking - walked out on the exit near two of them.

you are right some of them don't have great Savannah views. but others definitely do~

Thank you!!!!!!!! I knew you all would have the answer! It's too late for me to change views for my Dec. trip, but next year, I will request the standard view. While walking back to my room I was thinking, I dont care if there are giraffes outside my window, I need a CLOSER ROOM!

For your December trip, call MS and add a request like "close to the lobby" or "close to the elevators" to your reservation. As with any request, there is no guarantee but it doesn't hurt to ask. You might get lucky this time.
