I'm looking for some killer airfare deal from Philly to MCO. I've looked at Southwest and USair and they both come to $707 for 4 of us from Sept. 28- Oct.4.

We've only ever flown USair, so I'm not sure about other carriers! Help!!

Keep on checking. Southwest is what we used and it was 209.00 round trip per person. We went My 6th. I have found that AA and USAIR rates change on a daily basis but if you wait to long you can get burned.
If you are not to far, have you tried Spirit out fo AC?

The only draw back to southwest is the boarding passes. With no assigned seats its first come with the boarding passes. 4YO and under familys board after the handicapped. I also found that most resorts or hotels withh gladly check in and print boarding passes for southwest at the 12:01 am time as long as you are at the desk at that time.

Good Luck

sign up for DING with Southwest. Last year we went in Sept and originally booked $79 one way internet fares and then it went to $59 and then to $49 :earseek: so in total we spent about $340 on 3 round trip tickets.

You could also check Spirit Airline in Atlantic City if you are in South Jersey. They have direct flights to MCO. That airport is so much quicker then Philly anyway

We have personally found that USAirways and SW run neck-in-neck with fares to MCO from PHL - at least for the times we've traveled. We leave on 6/21 and paid $179 pp/rt on USAirways (and were lucky to get a seat!! ); SW was the same fare. We paid $133/pp rt in February on USAirways.

USAirways also has more flights; many are non-stops. I like both airlines, but haven't seen huge fare discrepancies yet, at least for MCO travel.

I would wait a bit! Those fares will definitely go down. It is an definite off peak time, so the fares will be cheap.

I went from PHL-MCO last year on those same exact dates and the fares were $49 each way. Those fares appeared around late August. U.S. Air, Southwest and even Delta offered those fares. Albeit I think you can't fly out on a friday or sunday, but the fares for those days was only $79. I chose Southwest and it was great. The plane was only a third full! :cool1: My parents also flew down to MCO a couple weeks later on U.S. Airways for $49 dollars too.

The other airline out of Philly that is comparable price wise to USAir & Southwest is AirTran.

I tried SW once, never again. I hating not having a seat and the boarding cattle call.

Since the financial difficulties they encountered last year, I think US Airways has been trying SO HARD! I've flown them almost a dozen times since last fall, and they've just been wonderful. When they weren't on-time due to weather (SW, Delta, and CO were all backed up as well that day) they were amazing about keeping us up-to-date as to what was causing the delay, where the plane was, and what they were trying to do for us.

I saw a gate agent bend over backwards to help a woman who was trying to get to FL to see her mother who had maybe five hours left to live--even as much as calling SW to try to get her on one of their flights.

Yesterday I saw a customer service rep take money out of her own pocket to get an unaccompanied minor lunch at Mc D's when her flight was delayed by weather. (Why the parents didn't make sure that kid had $20 for exactly that reason is beyond me...)

I've had FA's who recognize me as a regular passenger refuse to let me pay for a cocktail when I had been unable to get a bump to FC.

It's the little things that have made me an extraordinarily loyal customer. I don't need silly jokes during the pre-flight. I'd prefer exceedingly courteous professional service.

There are great rates available with USA 3000 out of Philly, but your return date is not available. You would have to return on October 3rd or 5th. It's $59.00 each way. We are using them in December and had to extend our stay by one day. I've heard good things about them.

It is a known fact NOT having assigned seats takes 10+min less on average to board a plan of the same size that has assigned seats. Also it allows you to seat together on last minute plan trips, esp with large familes that otherwise on an assigned seat flight - would not allow you. We almost flew USAir but they only had 2 seats together which meant my DH would have not even been near us for my dd's first plan trip. SW is first come, first serve so all you do is go online midnight before you leave and print out all your boarding passes and you will be in the first section to board (after preboarding) no matter how late you arrive at the airport - you will sit together. Another thing I also like are flights like Orlando which are full of kids, they all tend to all go in the front of the plane at preboarding. I always now if I want a quiet trip, that I go to the back of the plane. There are never any young kids back there.

I would check out Airtran's rates, we've flown them several times and always had great service and on-time flights. I'm not sure where you are in PA but you may want to check out rates from BWI? We've flown Airtran and SW from there and I usually find better rates there than from Philly.

HI
We use Airtran, I checked your dates and they are 79.00 each way.

I d'nt care if it takes an extra twenty minutes to board the plane. I still prefer having my seat assignment in advance. Usually I'm able to get an aisle seat in the first few rows, so I can wait until the last minute to board. If I flew on SW I'd have to be first in the "A" line to get that seat.

Also, on US they will usually be able to juggle people around to get you together.
