Ok so I need your guys advice. We went Jan 2007 with out two girls ages 4,6. Of course when we planned it we thought this would be our once in a life time trip. HAHA we loved it so much we are already discussing when to go back. However I got pg on our once in a life time trip lol so now we will have a baby in tow when we go back. SO my question is when to go....
Jan 2008 with a 4 month old
Sept with an 11 month old
Jan 2009 with a 15 month old.

Name pros and cons of each age/time PLEASE!!!!!!!!!! :confused3

Well, I always say NEVER take and infant when it is hot, but I think a four month old would be easier to handle than a toddler who is walking and since you are talking about January that would be my pick. The youngest we ever took any of ours was our son at 5 months, it was cool in the fall and it worked out great. He was an easy baby, nursed in the dark shows and slept a lot, so it was great!

I'd go when the baby is 4 months old. I don't think that an 11 or 15 month old will really get that much more out of it than the 4 month old, and they will be a much bigger hassle. Infant diapers are easier to change, they don't run around, are less fussy (I mean they generally only want one of four things.. a change, a diaper, a bed, or to be held... not very difficult) .. They will also sleep a lot.

I think it depends on the baby. My kids at 4 months would NOT have been easy- they were very fussy babies. That being said, I would go during either of the January dates. I agree with the PP who adviced against September...it'll be very hot.

Did you mean that you went with OUR girls in Jan 2007. I think that is what you intented instead of with out your girls. if so... I would wait till Jan 2009. Our "baby rule" is 6 mo and while we LOVE January, it is prime flu/ RVS season and weather can be so unpredicatable for a infant. September is too hot for a little one. So of your choices, I would pick the last. If your girls have not been yet, I would try for a trip before the baby if possible , or the spring after the birth if you could go then.

My preference is either before they can walk or want to cruise/crawl alot or when they are closer to 2 and can walk and hold hands and understand directions. It would be very difficult to have a just walking but not understanding anything baby in the parks IF you want to get anything else done with your older girls. 4 months is actually a nice time to travel, they aren't "infants" anymore, are responsive and entranced by colors, lights, are awake longer can hold there heads up, may be sitting independently, aren't picky eaters, etc. But importantly they don't want out of the stroller to move only to be held!

I (DH had to stay home)took my 4 children to Disney at age 7 months, 4, 6 and 8. We had a blast. The baby was perfect. She rode in the stroller or I carried her in the baby sling. The older kids could do what ever they wanted and everyone was happy. We went in September, but it is hot. However, it is hot at home that time of year and we do not stay in doors if we can help it. We took plenty of bottled water and the baby had her bottles there. It worked out well for us. We are going back this September. It is out favorite time of year to travel. There are no lines. My kids get off of things and get right back on. We love it. We will see how the "baby" does this year. She will be 2.5 when we travel. I can not wait!

BTW- My cousin and her kids went as well. Having someone to sit with the baby while the rest of us were on a ride was very helpful.

I felt the same way when we went in Jan 2007 with DD6 and DD2 - once in a lifetime (or at least 4 or 5 years). We are booked for Jan 2008!

I would go back in Jan 2008 with a 4 month old. They just sleep everywhere at that age. I think that an 11 month old would be more difficult with 2 naps a day and only napping in a crib (well, that's how both of mine were). If he/she has dropped the morning nap by 15 months, that would not be too difficult (you will probably still go back to the resort for resting/swimming with your older girls). (I have a 2 yo, and I can't remember when she dropped her morning nap!)

We used the baby swap with our 2 yo, and it worked very well (so our DD6 could ride things that DD2 could not). So, with any of those ages, you can still please your older girls.

So, go next January! See you there!

From experience, I went with an 8 yr. old DD and a 15 month old DS. We didn't go when he was younger because of the heat. He was a delight to watch on the rides when we went and we used baby swap a lot. My DD loved that she was able to ride many rides twice. :thumbsup2
