What age would you let your teen?

i'm 17 and i might go to disney this august with my cousin who is also 17. but dont the parents have to sign a waiver or something for us to travel?

well, i was allowed to go off in disneyworld unsupervised at age 14, anywhere but downtown disney.

well , i went when i was 11 i was allowed to go round the parks with my 14 year old cousin and had a set time to meet our parents but we had walkie-talkies and they knew we were only going to be around about the tower of terror area and in the other parks they again gave us a set time and a walkie-talkie each , so that they could contact us and we could contact each other if we got separated but we were alowwed to wander ! My cousin knew her way around the parks quite well aswell and we both had a map. we never were aloowed to go a whole day without seeing them , and i dont recall ever being on our own for more than an hour and in bigger parks we only really went on 1 or 2 rides at a time then met back up with them ! but i think this time , i will be 13 and will be with my two 16 year old cousins and my 14 year old cousin and i think things will be better and we will have more freedom ! but i think 13 is a good age as long as they are responsible and have a cell phone or walkie-talkie , and have a map with money for drinks ! :confused3 it's all up to you and how resposible you think they are ! We never got lost lol !

Hope that was of some help !

I have never really been off by myself yet, since I really think of Disney as a family experiance (even though my dad hasn't been since I was six), but sometimes my brother and I will go of and ride a few rides my mom and sister don't want to ride, or go to a ride we have already ridden and ride it again. We both have cellphones, and meet up soon after. I would let my child off with an older sibling at about ten, and off by themselves at twelve or thirteen, if they have cell phones.

I'm 14 and my mother doesn't trust me to be in Wal-Mart by myself. I'm the firstborn, she worries that I might get kidnapped. I already know police manuevers, and I carry pepperspray. :)

we originally bought our walkie-talkies for wal-mart , but they were useful in parks too ! :thumbsup2

wouldnt like to get on the wrong side of some one carrying pepper spray ! :rotfl2:

lol no, your parents don't need to sign a waiver. However, if you want to know Disney policy, any children 7 years of age and younger must have a parent or guardian with them at all times. That means anyone older than 7 can go alone by themselves. I think that is a very lax rule of course. 8 years of age is way too young in my opinion.

but what if we wanted to stay in like the hotels by ourselves?

To go around the park by his or herself, I'd say 16 or older. But for just hanging out alone in the pool I'd say 14.

i believe that any child should be allowed to do something like that only if their parent thinks they are mature enough, and if they think theyre mature enough as well.

im 17 and ive been allowed to be by myself at disney for five years now. i mean honestly, its really not that big of a deal from my point of view. i still have to check in, meet up for lunch/dinner what not. but then again ive been there so much i know where to go if i need to and i cant meet up with my family. if this is their first time, i advise against it. disney world is a pretty big place for your first time there.

I am 17 and extremely responsible...yet this will be the first year my parents will let myself and little brother (10) off on our own...

It's going to be so much fun, and I'm sure they will stay in touch with us. However, I'm not sure they'll be in the park with us...so it will be total Disney freedom.

I've been let off on my "own," but only to ride certain rides for half hour or so, while, for example, the rest of the family rests in the shade...

IMHO though, I LOVE going to Disney with my FAMILY and spending a ton of time with them...so going off on my own really hasn't crossed my mind too often. I think it also depends on how mature your teen is and who your teen will be going off with...he/she obviously cannot be wandering on their own for too long...just MHO.

Well im not sure about what i would do with my kids....but il be 18 in august and my parents are letting me and a few friends go on our own trip to disney(driving from michigan to disney) over spring break next year...it will be my senior year spring break and im so excited...so i guess we will have no choice but to walk around on our own lol...and were all staying at the Sheraton Vistana Resort!! its gunna be the best time ever and we will all be 18, Downtown Disney Clubbing!! so i guess 18 is prolly a good age to atleast be able to go around disney unsupervised

um.. my mom says when i am 14 my brother and i can go to the same park my parents are in but we don't have to stay in the same area... my mom trusts me to keep my brother(and myself) under control! :) :) :) lol

Well i would hav to agree with most of the others. I am only 13 but i would say 16 for going alone.

I'm 18 and my mom is letting me and my younger brother go to disney oursleves. That being said I am very responsible, and Disney is def. the only place she would allow us to go alone, since I've been there more times then I can tell you. I think disney is a very safe place, but you still need to be careful. I also think it depends alot on the maturity of the kids. :thumbsup2 I would probably let a 12/13 year old go off on there own in the same park if they were mature and not be worried.

how mwny times have u been to disney????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

An insane amount of times lol. We go at least twice a year and have since I was born sometimes 3 maybe even 4 smaller trips. Its the only place my family really goes on vacation. Just this year we've done 2 already and have one planned for july. :)

I think it really depends on the maturity of the teen. My mom let me go off alone in the same park when I was 12. It also depends on how close you're going to be ex. My mom let me wait alone if they were going on a ride i didn't likewhen I was 12and I could go into stores, but when I was 13 I was allowed to take my little cousin to do something else while my family went on a ride she was scared of.
