What age would you let your teen?

awe some i have been 8 times in my life time and it is the only place my family went on vacation

I am 17, and last year i was allowed to go to off on my own if i didn't want to ride certian rides etc. but since we were off property i ouldn't go to annother park on my own. We are planning to go next yaer, and my rents would have no probs saying if i want to go somewhere else to do it. Although sinc im from england, cell phones are kinda out cause it would cost a BOMB! However walkie talkies seem like a good idea.... anywho, i think in the same park 13, if its say staying in a shop while the parents ride a ride. 16 if they are going further a field, and 18 if they want to go to a seperate park. But the whole point of disney is for a family experience, so although i may go to a diff park one day, i would probs stay with my family.
:p

There's no set age in my family. We all got cell phones and a set meeting area at the end of the day so there's really no way for us to get lost.

My family visited Disney every year that I was in middle school and high school. My freshman year of high school (I was 15) was when I was allowed to take a friend and we were allowed to travel the parks and all of disney property freely. We had to let my parents know where we would be that day and they made sure we were fully aware of the transportation system. This was before everyone in the entire world had cellphones, so we weren't able to check in with them...but mom and dad trusted us to make good decisions and to be back in the hotel by a certain time (usually 9 or 10 pm).

I should also mention that my brother (who is only 1 year younger) was NEVER allowed to do this. He was just never ready for that responsibility! :rotfl:

my parents actually let me go to disney world with my dance troop without them when i was 14 and we were allowed to go wherever we wanted in disney world as long as we checked in with the leader at 2 and 7 and it all worked out fine

I wouldn't let my child go off until they were about 18, and even then I would be checking up on them every 15 minutes or something.

wow. u r soo strict!

I don't know, as a teen myself sometimes situations sound great and safe. But then I get separated from the group or I lose my cell phone lots of stuff can happen. You also have to know if the group well. If the older ones have let the younger ones go off by themselves before, then take great discetion before deciding.

Depends on the maturity level of your kids. My parents let me go by myself inside the parks when I was probably around 13. By the time I was 15 they let me go anywhere on Disney property by myself.

16 would be a good age

IMO anything younger than that isn't mature enough. :)

Actually i'm 13 and my 2 cousins are 12 and 11 and we're going by ourselves to eat at MGM by ourselves and maybe catch a few rides if we're up to it.

I was 16 when I was allowed to go off...though I know all the parks like the back of my hand...it depends on how familiar the teen is with Walt Disney World. :thumbsup2 (Also, how mature the kid is...)

My parents let me go around Disney by myself starting at around 13. I had to be back to the hotel by a certain time. I grew up going to Disney almost every month up until high school, so I knew my way around like the back of my hand. The only place I wasn't able to go around by myself was Downtown Disney. Once I turned 15, my mom let me go by myself there at night.

I am 14 and my sis is 16 we are allowed to go off by ourselves but it is only if we are going to try and get on a ride really fast or we are getting something to eat. My family and I know every MK,MGM,AK,and Epcot very well since we go almost every year.

I've been allowed to go to the park by myself since I was 14, as long as I had a cell phone and called every hour or 2, and I was back by 9:30.
