What age were you when you bought?

I was 22 and DH was 25 when we jumped in and yes I think we were both ready for it. We figured where else would a family vacation for the next 18+ years (we just had our first child 8months prior).

We bought about 1 1/2 years ago- both of use were 29 at the time- well, maybe Dh was already 30. Anyway, we have a son, who was 2 at the time. We did finance, but only for 5 years, and felt we made a sound decision. We already own our house and 2 cars- and that's our only debt. In a few years, all of that, well other than the house, will be paid off. We figured now was better than later since we go to Disney almost every year anyway. We wish we would have been told about it back in 200, when we went on our honeymoon as we would have bought then and it'd be paid off now!

We bought in October of 2003. I was 31 and DH was 29 DS was 1. Wish I had done it sooner.

Bought just before my 35th birthday with no spouse and no kids. I used to think it would be silly to spend so much, when I was so used to staying at the value resorts to save money since it was "just me." However, "just me" deserves to give more consideration to comfort than cost sometimes and my love of WDW seems to be the one thing in my life that will never change.

DH & I were aboard the Disney Magic last Sept. 2005 when we bought our SSR points. I had just turned 49. DH was 51. We had been mulling the idea over for several years but with two kids in college and weddings, etc.--well, you get the picture. Last year we took the plunge. In less than a year we have enjoyed SSR, Vero, and Hilton Head. We'll be back at SSR in just a few weeks! DH & I Disneymooned at the Poly over 31 years ago and we have been hooked ever since!

We were both 30 years old. That was close to 5 years ago. :thumbsup2

I was 38 and DW was 39 when we bought our BWV points.
Very happy with our membership; will most likely add on points sometime over the next year or so.

Just bought at 42 years young, with my wife of 32 and my daughter of 3 1/2. Looking forward to our first trip home to the Boardwalk next December.

I bought earlier this year in July, I am 23 and my DW is 24... I figured if I'm paying for 40 some years of vacationing I will be darn sure to get started earlier so I am here for all of them lol :thumbsup2

Currently no kids... but when one finally does come along he/she might get confused as to who her/his parents are.. Mickey and minnie or me and DW :rotfl2: Looking forward to years of vacationing :goodvibes

I was 47 earlier this year and my husband was 46 when we purchased our BWV points. I turned 48 and we purchased VWL points. By next spring, I'll probably be 49 when we purchase AKL points. I see a trend.

And we have no kids, either. :thumbsup2

p.s. We should have bought much earlier but I had a mental block against ALL timeshares and wouldn't even look at Disney's.

We bought when I was 28, DH 27. We were CMs at the time and the discount was a big factor in our decision. Best choice we've ever made as now, with a house, etc., to pay for, DVC guarantees us vacations we'd never be able to afford if we had to pay cash for a room!!!

Bought in this month . . .I'm 34, DH is 29. Wish we'd been in a position to do it sooner!

Wow! Good for you !

On landing the younger man that is!!!! :rotfl2:

I bought in 14 years ago when I was 21. I bought in on a trip with my then girlfriend.

Fast forward 14 years and I'm still enjoying that DVC with my family. Girlfriends come and go ( A lot for me back then :rolleyes1) but the DVC is here to stay.

Edit: Sorry Sajetto, guess you are the second youngest.

So here I am in entering into my late middle ages, almost 50 with a 3 yr old and getting ready to buy a DVC.
April ... It doesn't matter how old you are ... it's how old you feel. A 3-year old will make you feel very young or very old. Since you're buying into DVC, my guess would be "young" ;).

I am 45 with a 7 year-old and we bought at OKW pre-child when I was 35 and my husband was 36. We bought *again* at BWV 5 years later when our DD was 3!

What an interesting question! We just bought this year, when DH was about to turn 31, and I was 28. We knew Disney was one of our favorite places in the world, and we would always vacation there at every opportunity. When the F&F special came out early this year, we looked at our finances, and took the plunge (with a nice interest-free loan from my parents for what we didn't put down in cash at the outset). We knew we wanted to buy in some day, and figured that "some day" was better at that price than waiting for another day down the road. This way, if/when we have a family and I potentially stay at home for a bit, it should be paid off completely, and we'll have those accomodations to look forward to, without having to worry about saving for them (minus the MF's, of course).

Congratulations on your decision - I don't think you can ever be "too old" at Disney! ;)

I want to eccho those that say one is never too old to enjoy wdw. I hope to be going well into my later years with my grandchildren. Also wanted to point out....you are hardly in your "late" middle ages at almost 50 ! Don't scare me like that ! :scared1: ;)
Late middle age is like 60-65 ! Let's not push it here.....I just turned 44 and I hardly feel I'm approaching "late" middle age when I get to 50 ! Check out this web site and the definition of "middle age": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Middle_age
From this site :
According to Collins Dictionary, this is "... usually considered to occur approximately between the ages of 40 and 60", The OED gives a similar definition but with a later start point "... the period between youth and old age, about 45 to 60." Whilst Erik Erikson sees it ending a little later and defines middle adulthood as between 40 and 65. Thus, in the western world, middle age is somewhere between 40 and 65.
So we've got a way to go to get to late middle age Tacomaranch ! We've got a lot more disney to do :woohoo:

We bought this year for my 35th birthday! Happy Birthday to me. I can't wait for my first DVC trip in January.
