Started teaching my son when he was about 6. He took things out of the washer and put them in the dryer, cleaned the lint trap(which he loved!) and started the dryer. He's 11 now and can do any laundry. We sort into four piles-delicate which normally includes whites, towels-socks, jeans, and DH's work clothes.

I think I started doing my own laundry at 13 or 14. My DS is 11 now and there is no way I would let him do it. But then again, NOONE touches my washer/dryer. I won't even let DH do laundry! :rotfl:

In around 5th-6th grade my kids would put away the clothes that I would fold. Sometime in middle school they would start washing their own clothes--never my clothes, though. :scared: Washing included sorting, using the machines, and putting it away, even though that might mean pulling clothes out of the basket part of the week to wear. I don't much care as long as I don't have to deal with the clothes. :rotfl: I still wash my 13yo's baseball clothes since they get so caked with dirt.

I was sorting laundry at age 4. I was helping fold laundry at age 4. I was doing my own laundry at age 5 because I was finally tall enough to reach the bottom of the washer when I stood on a stool.

:laundy:

So for almost 35 years now, I have been doing laundry. I HATE LAUNDRY!
