What age for Autograph Books

I was wondering at what age did you start your children off with the autograph books??

I'm sorry if this is a repeat question?

Is 3 years old too young?

I didn't bother until my two girls were 5 & 7 years old because my 7 year old was the one interested. I still have them share their book as well.

I wasn't big on the idea so I never pushed for it until she started to ask me for one.

We bought our DD2.5 an autograph book. She loves it! At first she was a little hesitant with the costumed characters, but she easily went to the face characters. Sometimes she asks for it while we are in line and she has to be the one to hold it, sometimes she doesn't. She loves getting the autographs because it makes her feel like a big girl. I say go for it.

Our dd was three the first time we went to disney and she loved getting the autographs. The interaction with the characters is one of the things she remembers when we ask her about her first trip. She still likes to get out her book and read the signatures alot of them will write a little something personal and she gets a kick out of that i.e. Baloo called her little britches and she had her face panited like Tigger and Pooh wrote to our own little tigger. So no in my opinon three is not to young. I will ad to that though that my dd is very outgoing, if your child is shy or might be afraid of the characters it might be better to wait until they are older.

We did autographs with DDs 3 and 6- DD3 had no problem with the princesses and other favorites, but many of the pictures with Goofy, Chip n Dale, etc., are just her older sister. But she does enjoy having the autograph book. You can always take the book to the character if it is one she is shy of.

I don't think three is to young if they are not scared of the characters. On the other hand if you don't want to introduce it to them yet you will be saving yourself a lot of time standing in lines waiting for the autographs.

Just got back from trip with DD4 and DS2. DD LOVED getting autographs. Instead of using a Disney book I bought a spiral bound book of different colored index cards. The characters signed the unlined side. At home I made a photo album with a pic of my kids with the character on one page and the autograph on the opposite page. The kids (as well as EVERYONE I have shown the album to) absolutely love looking at the album. My daughter also enjoyed getting to pick the color of card for each specific character pink forPiglet, etc. It was a good way for her to pass the time we waited in line.

My three and four year olds loved them on our first trip.

Because my DS who was 7 had one my DD who was 2.5 wanted one. We bought it for her and she had a great time.

My almost 3 yo kept seeing the other people getting autographs, so we gave her a plain hotel notepad and a pen. She was SO excited about getting autographs "just like the big kids."

Next time, we were thinking of either pre-printing cards with characters on them, or else bringing a T-shirt and a big marker for the characters to sign with, to have a wearable souvenir.

DS#1 went for the first time at 3. The first thing he saw was the characters and it took a whole 2 seconds to figure out the autograph thing. He loves it. Meeting characters is part of his favorite thing about Disney.

We have the characters sign one side of the page. Snap a picture while he is getting it signed and then paste it on the opposite side of the page. He loves to look throught that book. On the inside cover I also write down his name, dates of our trip, and where we are staying (for memories & in case we lose it so it can be easily returned).

My DD has been getting autogrpahs from the characters since she was 3. She absolutely loved it the first time, and now it is a given that she will have an autogrpah book when we go. What I've done to make it a little more special is to get a small (5x7) scrapbook. I have a scrapbooking pen that has a thick tip. The characters sign one page each with the pen. Because the pen is thick tipped, the signatures look beautiful and really stand out. I add blank pages when we get back home and put a picture of my DD with the character on the page next to their signature. I let her put stickers and stuff on the pages to help decorate. She loves it. It's her special book with pictures of just her and the characters.

First time we took DS last year, he was 2.5. He loved having the characters "write their name."

We have a Disney autograph book which actually has lots of pages. We only live an hour from WDW, so have been back since that first time. He is now 3.5 and loves seeing the characters, and will actually tell me when he needs his autograph book and when "I already have that one." He still visits the character, just doesn't ask for the autograph. We have the characters always sign the right page, and take a picture of DS and the character and glue it into the book on the left page (an idea I got here on the DIS). This makes the autograph book even more special.

Last time we went, Jessie and Woody from Toy Story were together. He, for whatever reason his 3-year old mind had, only would let Woody sign his book. Now he cannot wait to go back because he regrets not getting Jessie's signature!

We took our 2.5 son last September. He loved getting autographs and still gets out his book. Definitely going to get another book this year!

My 3 year old daughter loves her autograph book! Hints: Get retractable sharpie pens before you come to the park...and we bought the autograph books at Walmart in Orlando before coming to the parks as well. Only $1.99 each! Bought squeeze-breezes and t-shirts too so kids had loads of souvenirs and didn't get the "grabbies" in all the gift shops. Also, go to Toontown for lots of autographs. The characters are in the "tents" and there are different lines for each. The princess line was our longest wait during the entire trip at 30 minutes, but well worth it when DD saw and met Belle, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty. Priceless! Enjoy!

Hello, everyone and thank you for all your advice. Our trip was a truly magical and wonderful experience. It was everything we had hoped it would be. We did buy our 3 your old twins their own autograph books and I'm glad we did. They completely grasped the concept, was a good practice for their manners (please and thank you) and we have fabulous memories and pictures!

My daughter was three and she really enjoyed the interaction. We have some funny pictures from that trip. There was one where she was completely crashed in the stroller and Captain Hook was pretending to clean out her ear with his hook as she slept. I think as soon as they can walk and hold a book at the same time, they are old enough for an autograph book

My 3 year old loved her autograph book as well. This was her second trip, the first without the book was actually a little cuter for me because she really got into hugging the characters. This time she was like a little papparazzi or something with the autographs but it was still cute. She'd insist on holding the book and picking the page for them to sign and then they would sign and she would walk away! We always had to remind her to hug, say thank you and to have her picture taken!

She also only let certain people sign. She would not let any villians sign and I was really disappointed when Hook and Smee were available in a short line for pics and she wouldn't go and wouldn't let me have them sign her book for her either! She said only the nice ones!

She really loved the books though.
