My DD is almost 3 - I was thinking she might be ok with the Autograph Book and not the Pin trading.

Anythoughts?

My 19 month old traded pins when we were at WDW. We didn't think she would, but she really wanted to and loved picking pins off of the lanyards. Kids really do learn by observation--we didn't teach her to trade and she knew what to do by day 2. When we asked her if she wanted to trade, she would point to the pin she wanted, take a pin out of my fanny pack (sometimes she needed help getting only 1--they stick together), give the pin to the cast member, take the one they handed her, say thank you, and put the new pin in my fanny pack so I could save it for her. She traded for the same pin several times (I guess she really liked it), but we just traded the extras back to the park later and just kept letting her trade for whatever she wanted. Grandpa bought her 50 pins to trade (purchased before we left for about $1.80 per pin), and she has a little pin book that is now full of pins that wiggle, slide, spin, or open. She loves to sit on my lap with her pin book and make everything move. I think we've created a monster :scared1: She was even given a Pixie Dust pin by a cast member for being such a good little trader.

My DD enjoyed the autograph book at that age but I don't know how she would have done with pin trading. We didn't start the pin trading thing until she was 4.

We just started Autographs when my DD was 33 months old. I had made a Disney ABC book and left room for autographs, too. She loved it!

At one point while we were in ToonTown, I asked her if she wants to go on more rides or see the characters for autographs ... and she shouted in glee, "more characters!"

My dd started when she was 2 but when we went back and she was 4 we bought a story book with a bunch of short stories in them and had each one sign their story so when we came home she could read her story at night and see the autograph. She still enough the book

My son will turn 3 in January. We got him an autograph book this past trip. He loved bringing his book to the characters and having them sign it.

My daughter is now turing 8 and has been pin trading for about 3-4 years. She is very selective and only goes for hidden Mickey's. She was able to complete three sets this past trip.
