This definitely depends on the child! We have a bit of a bonus when we go to WDW because it is at sea level and we live a mile high so we are on an oxygen high at WDW and have a much easier time walking around. We are also VERY active and can walk a LOT. As for my children, we stopped BRINGING a stroller when they were 5 but they didn't really need it much when they were 4.
And here's a tip, we brought an old umbrella stroller and just left it at WDW for another child when we were done with the trip. So we didn't always use the stroller when we went to the parks but we had it if we needed it then we were able to give someone else a stroller that was going to have to rent or pay for one. This only worked out for us because we were planning on getting rid of it anyway BEFORE our trip but we thought this was a good option for us.
