My son has developemental delays and sensory issues and tires easily. We are bringing a stroller just for him to sit in when he needs it. Are there other accomidations that would benifit my son? We are going to take everything slow with him and bring lots of snacks so he does not get hungry between meals. I would like to get him the guest pass so he does not need to wait in long lines at the rides. Can someone give me some basic info on what we need to do to get the pass. I have read that we don't need a docters note but we would like to bring one too. Can someone tell me what it needs to say? I imagine the docter will put someting about his diagnosis and say that he tires easily. Is there anything else that she should say? This is our frist trip so we don't know the ins and outs of this yet.

Thanks,

Jessica.:santa:

The GAC are not meant to shorten waiting times. For your need I would think getting a GAC that allows you to use the stroller as a wheelchair, meaning you can use it in the lines, would be a big help.
Make sure you read the FAQs at the top of this thread, it has loads of helpfull info.

there is no guest pass where you do not need to wait in the lines. the GAC Guest Accomodation Card tells the CMs the express needs such as using a stroller as a wheelchair so it will be allowed in the line. or Waiting in a more quiet place or a place out of the heat etc.
You will need to take the child to the Guest services office for the GAC and explain exactly what his needs are, saying he can't wait in long lines is not going to do it.
They are not supposed to even read any Dr. Letters.

If your child tires easily, just ask to use the stroller as a wheelchair. Lines are mainstreamed and using fastpass is the only way to cut down on wait times. Actually, those people you see "disappearing" from lines go to an area where they often wait much longer than other guests because they need to wait on the limited ride vehicles that can accommodate their needs.

Going at a "slow" time of the year and using fastpass are the best ways to avoid lines!

See the FAQs thread about the GAC.

As everyone has said so far, the Guest Assistance Card (GAC) can provide some accommodations such as using a stroller as a wheelchair (allowing you to take it through lines and into buildings where they are normally prohibited e.g. the Land), wait in an alternative area if these are available (be warned that not all attractions have these) or sit in a certain area of the theatre at shows (e.g. where you can get out quickly, or to allow those with visual / hearing disabilities to sit closer to the front). They don't get you through lines any faster though, and with a stroller as a wheelchair, you can sometimes wait longer.

You don't need a doctor's letter, but if you do choose to get one, ask the doc to explain what his needs are and how his disabilities affect him. They do not want to know his diagnosis, as this won't help them at all.

You might also want to make use of the First Aid rooms. These have beds, that your son can use for a quick nap in the air con, to save you trekking all the way back to your hotel.

Make sure you pace yourselves, don't try to do too much and know when to take a break. Also, make sure he's well hydrated and doesn't over heat.

Good luck and have a great trip! :goodvibes

At each park at DLR and WDW there is a nurses station where guests can lay down and rest. It is not as comfty as motel 6 but is a good place if a person gets worn out easily.

use the stroller as much as possible. You can use a GAC and take the stroller as if it was a wheelchair. Check with FAQSs for links.

I would suggest you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. The top item is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information, including some about Guest Assistance Cards.

The normal response from Guest Services for mobility/stamina problems is the recommendation of use of a wheelchair or ECV. When you explain the needs, you will probably get a special sticker which will allow you to use his stroller as if it were a wheelchair, which means it can be taken into most lines or allow use of an alternate entrance of the line is not mainstreamed.
