What about the week following Columbus Day?

We aren't going this year , but will be attending our first MNSSHP in October of 2005! I've read the threads asking about Columbus Day weekend crowds, but I'm curious about the week of Columbus Day. We will probably hit one of the parks on Sunday, do something "non-Disney" on Monday (Columbus Day), then park hop on Tues, Wed, & Thurs w/MNSSHP Thurs. night. Do the crowds lighten considerably following Columbus Day? Compare them to the week following President's Day if you can. We were there that week this year and while many on the DIS thought the crowds were horrible, I thought they were very managable with a good plan.
If you have any input on Columbus Day week, I'll send some pixie dust your way

We arrived at Disney on Mon, Oct 13 (Columbus Day), 2003, and stayed til Sat, Oct 18. It was our first time visiting in October (we usually go in the summer and the first week of Dec) I was a little worried after reading about "crowds" for that week.

It was a great time to visit!!! Most of the rides were a walk on, or at most, a 5-10 minute wait!!! We saw everything we wanted, and went on some of the rides over and over and over (Buzz Lightyear!!!) It was just DH, myself, and my youngest DD. She doesn't like any of the "mountain" rides, so we didn't do any of those!!

Weather was great - nice the first couple of days, then it got a little chilly. Of course, our summer visits are so hot (we just got back in July); so the October weather was great for us!! We did do MNSSHP - and my daughter had a great time trick or treating!!!

I would definitely visit at this time of year again!!! (This year, we going back for MVMCP!!!!!)

so i am going the a week before columbus day. I will be there on columbus day and leaving the day after. How do you think the crowds will be. Do you think we will be lucky with the walk on the rides?
