Hello,

I like the deluxe hotels, so I am interested in knowing if any of the DVC members that share information with us here, has had an experience in any of the concierge collection resorts, or if as I have heard, those are almost imposible to get..............

Thanks

We have used points to stay at the Whitehall in Chicago and the Royal Garden in London and didn't have any difficulty obtaining reservations.

If you plan ahead they should not be difficult. Just be aware there are black out dates for many. I wonder if you're hearing about the AKV concierge where there are only 5 two BR lockoff units and are very difficult to get.

We stayed at the Tanque Verde Ranch in Tucson... Maybe our best vacation ever. And no longer on the CC list. :confused3

We also stayed at the Grove Park Inn in Ashville.

Didn't have any problem booking either and loved both. :thumbsup2

Most of the Concierge Collection hotels that I enjoyed the most (e.g. Charleston Place Hotel) have been eliminated.

I just tried to find the Concierge Collection point charts for 2009. They are not on the DVC member website. Is this program being eliminated? Specifically, I was looking for TopNotch at Stowe.

Thanks!
Renee

It's there. I saw it this morning when I looked before my response to this thread.

The points may not be on the website but MS has them. We booked our trip to the Fairmont in San Francisco for next August at 11 months. No problem.

We stayed at Mandarin Oriental in Washington DC and Royal Garden in London and loved both hotels.

I am disappointed that the selection of Concierge hotels has decreased since we bought our points.

I am also disappointed that the number of concierge collection options has decreased. We were looking forward to using points to stay at Charleston Place since it is one of the few hotels within driving distance for us. I wonder if less effort was made to keep these hotels because of the new ones that were being built.

My wife and I have stayed at The Grove Park Inn...great hotel but the room was disappointing.

We stayed at the Biltmore Coral Gables in Florida and the Royal Garden Hotel in London on points. They were both excellent hotels.

I was wondering how often DVC changes the hotel choices for Concierge Collection? I would like to plan a trip to London for summer of 2010 and I wonder if there will be more than the one choice that is available now. I would love to stay at one of the hotels that DCL is using for pre and post cruises in 2010 but would rather use DVC points than cash. The location of the hotel DVC lists now, The Royal Garden, does not really appeal to me.

Until this year they've normally made minor adjustments. They made wholesale changes this year but mostly by eliminating choices, not adding them. I think it's unlikely you'll see any additions for London either for the CC or World Passport.

Considering DCL has cruises leaving from Dover, England in 2010, it would be a shame if they lost a London hotel as part of the concierge collection. Many DVC cruisers would probably elect a pre or post stay in London.

We stayed at the Royal Garden after the 2007 Med crusie and thought it was a nice location, right by Kensington Gardens. The "hop on hop off" bus stopped right outside the hotel. It was a good walk from the theater district, but definitely do-able (we did).

Have they finalized the list? I was waiting for the Grand Waleia in Hawaii. It's not on the list yet, but I was holding out hope.

I can't say for certain, might better ask DVC this question.

I suppose none of the lost hotels are on RCI?
There has been no overlap between the CC and timeshares. The closest thing was Atlantis the hotel and Harbourside the timeshare.
