What about Kodak

I am looking to upgrade my current camera. It is a Kodak and I am very happy with it. I am looking at purchasing another Kodak. I found a great deal on a V1273, but I think that I want to look into a camera with more zoom (the v1273 is 12 MP and 3x optical zoom). I was looking at the Z-Series cameras. Any opinions on these or the Kodak brand in general?

I was also wondering about Sony. There is only one drawback for switching brands: I would have to buy all new memory sticks. The Kodaks use SD cards (of which I have several).

Thanks

Personally, I don't like Kodak cameras. I have had a Point and Shoot cameras made by Kodak, Fuji, Canon (x2) and Olympus and by far my favorite was the Canon. Canon also takes SD cards, so you wouldn't have to switch and they make so many models depending on what features you want, I'm sure you could find something within your price range (whatever that may be).

Good luck!

A friend of mine has a Kodak Z710 or Z712- it has like 10x or 12x zoom and she likes it, I've seen some shots from it and they are nice. I agree with Anne on the Canon, tho. My Dslr's and slr's are all Nikon, I love them, I have a few Nikon p&s's that are fine but my favorite p&s is my Canon A560. Check out the Kodak Z712 or whatever the newer model is and the Canon SX110IS. I have 2 friends with the SX110 and they love it- 10x zoom, big screen, no viewfinder, tho.
A quick look on Amazon found these- this Kodak looks like the newer model of the Z712

here is the Canon

Quite a price difference.

Based on some of the posts around here, I may be in the minority, but I have owned 3 Kodak digital P-n-S's over the years and have been happy with each. My only reason for replacing each one was I wanted the higher MP the newer camera offered.

Are they as sharp as others out there? Maybe not, but for the money (each of mine were lower in cost than their counterparts at other brands) I have found them very workable for basic photography. I left Kodak only because I missed working with a SLR camera and finally took the plunge last year to return to Pentax and a DSLR.

Best of luck with your final choice.

I was going to start a thread along this line so I will just jump in here, if the OP doesn't mind.

My teen son will be taking a once-in-a-lifetime trip to NYC and I already have a Kodak Z650 and quite a few accessories. I was wondering if there is a pocket/p & s Kodak that can be recommended ~ having in mind that we might be able to share some of the accessories? TIA
