I know you can take crochet hook on the plane and "kiddie" scissors....but what about cross stitching on the plane? They use those needles that aren't sharp?

I was able to cross stitch on a plane back from Phoenix on September 11. The stewardess didn't care about the needle, but she was concerned about my fold up scissors that she said had a pointy end, but I thought it was blunt. I just put it away to keep it from getting taken away. When we got home I went and bought kiddie scissors to use next time. I used those fold up scissors many times without question, and they go through the xray without incident. Oh well, kiddie scissors for me from now on!

Thanks for the info....anyone else have the same luck? I certainly hope so!! I'm going to try it.

I have been doing some cross stich lately. I actually cut my thread with fingernail clippers that I bought just for this purpose.

No one has ever said anything.

I do the same thing. No problems at all.

Thanks!! That is encouraging. I was hoping that I didn't have to try to crochet instead...that is more cumbersome on a plane.

I have a pendant cutter I got from Herschnerr's a few years ago. It's round with little notches with sharp edges between.(nothing exposed) It gets pretty close - I pack my real scissors in my checked luggage.
