Day 5 - Tuesday, December 7th - DTD and MVMCP

Well, apparently this trip has really touched a nerve with my parents, b/c this morning my father was on the phone making reservations for next year! :cool1: Yippee!!! My Dsis and her kids couldn't make this trip and my dad wants the whole family to experience the magic together next year! Ok, count me in!

:grouphug:

Our plan was for a low key day today since tonight was MVMCP. My dh decided to take the girls to MK for a little bit this morning while my parents and I would go to DTD for a little Christmas shopping. According to my dh, MK was empty and they literally walked onto every ride that morning. He said that CM's were standing around waiting for people. In all our years going to MK, we have never seen it like this! They were loving their moment at MK that morning and I was feeling a little bit of regret that I didn't join them! :earboy2: Ahhh, but shopping had to be done or Santa wasn't going to be leaving those special Mickey treats for the girls!

Before my parents and I headed to DTD, we stopped at the WL to check out the decorations. I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the WL. We stayed there last October and had a wonderful time. It was so pretty decorated for Christmas and seemed like a perfect resort to stay at if you wanted to be in the holiday spirit.

DTD wasn't too crowded and we got lots of shopping done. We ate lunch at the Earl of Sandwich and I think I found another favorite spot! There seems to be a theme on this trip of me eating a lot and loving every place we go to!!! :earboy2: After lots of shopping and too many purchases (sorry, honey), it was time to head back to SOG. BTW, I shipped all of my purchases home which was great. Saved me packing them and they arrived home before I did! :wizard:

My dad needed a new belt badly. He needed a smaller belt. What? You are eating just as much as me and you are losing weight? What is up with that? :earboy2: We took a little detour to the outlets off property so my dad could get a belt and soon we were on our way back to SOG.....

:moped:

To be continued......

Our timing was great as my DH and the girls arrived back at the hotel shortly before we did. It was warm out, so we decided that now would be a great time for a swim! My parents and I sat on the pool deck enjoying Pina Coladas, while the girls and my DH swam. Thanks, honey!

Before we knew it, it was time to head back to the room to get ready for our evening at Chef Mickey's and MVMCP. We were ready early so we headed to the MK and rode the train around the park. We also poked in a few shops before taking the monorail to the Contemporary for dinner. I had never been to Chef Mickey's for dinner and overall, it was pretty good. We were seated right away and the characters came out in no time. My mission for tonight's dinner was to give Mickey a hug. You see, a dear friend of mine has cancer and she asked me to hug Mickey for her as she loves Disney as much as me. When Mickey came around, I told him my hug was from a dear friend who is very sick. Mickey was great and gave me a big hug and kisses for my friend. Can you pass the tissue now, please? :sad1: It was a very special moment.....

Dinner was over in a jiffy and we all enjoyed ourselves! We bought the pics that they took of us and then headed out to the MK for our night of fun at MVMCP. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

It was probably about 6:15 when we headed into MK and they were ushering everyone to tomorrowland. We decided to get our pictures first. Whoa! Long line here! :earseek: It moved fast so that was no problem. We headed over to the TTA and gave it a spin and then decided to get out of Tomorrowland as it was packed! We ended up watching the "Celebrate the Season" show at 7:00 and then moseyed on over to Frontierland to stake out a spot for the parade. Our goal tonight was to really enjoy the atmosphere of the party and not worry about the rides too much. It was a good thing that my DH had the girls here today riding all of the rides or tonight might have been a little different with the girls wanting to hit all of the rides.

We caught the Country Bear Jamboree Christmas show before getting a great spot for the early parade. We had plenty of time before the parade so we just hung out making friends and enjoying the festive atmosphere. At one point, a cute little four year old girl came up to my dad and started singing to him. princess: Before you knew it, we all broke out singing "Jingle Bells" and it was a blast! She really took a shine to my dad and kept singing to him which was really cute. Maybe she thought he was Santa. LOL! We asked her dad if it was ok, for her to sit up front with my dd's and he was fine with it. Soon the parade started and I got the biggest kick out of seeing the reaction of this little girl. She was beside herself, giggling and screaming out the characters names. I was loving every minute of it and it brought great memories back of when my dd's were little like that! My girls are 6 and 8 now and while they love the parade, nothing beats watching the excitement and wonder of a little child who sees it for the first time. What a gift! Thanks little girl! You brought some magic to a family that night and we really enjoyed meeting you!!

After the parade, we headed for some hot chocolate and cookies and then to stake out another spot for WISHES. It was a little crowded at this point and took some time to get the hot chocolate. We ended up on the bridge between the hub and Liberty Square to see the fireworks. We quickly realized that it wasn't a good spot and we hightailed it with the masses onto Main Street and viewed the rest of WISHES from there. I loved the finale with fireworks going off all around you. GREAT! It was late after WISHES and we decided to call it a night. The girls were pretty tired and so was I.

I decided that it would be great to go to MVMCP for two nights. One night focus on the rides and the other night, focus on the shows. I guess that I will try this next year b/c we are going back, baby! :cool1: All in all, we had fun at MVMCP and I didn't think the crowds were too bad. We went to MNSSHP last October and that was mobbed, so this was an improvement.

Another great day! This vacation is going very well so far....can we keep it up? Stay tuned to find out.....
