Well, this did not turn out to be the Halloween we had planned. My 8 year old DD fell off the monkey bars at school today. Since I teach at the same school, her teacher came to get me. When I got to the nurse's office she told me she thought it was broken. We got to the emergency room at 1:15 and walked out of the hospital at 7:15! She broke the bone right under the thumb area on her right hand. They put her to sleep, put it back in place and put a soft cast on it. Of course, no trick or treat for her! She was heartbroken. We had gone to TDS and gotten the Snow White costume. When we were in WDW last December she just fell in love with the Snow White. We kept seeing the same girl over and over and Karen was convinced it WAS the REAL Snow White. She was so proud of her costume and just cried and cried in ER. She was such a brave girl and the most fun night of the year for kids was ruined for her. I know with all the other serious medical problems going on around here this isn't much. I am very thankful she is healthy and going to be fine. I just hated to see her so sad. Anyone know a way to get an autographed picture of Snow White for her? Thanks for listening ya'll!
UPDATE:
I am reading all these wonderful replies with tears in my eyes. The DIS is such a wonderful place. Thank you all so much for your concerns and good thoughts. Karen and I just returned from seeing the surgeon this morning. He says the hand and fingers look good. She will return next Wednesday for more Xrays. Right now there are no plans for a permanent cast. She will stay in the soft cast and sling for quite a few weeks. I have sent PMs to Kara and her mom. They are being just wonderful! Thank you all again! Karen sends a big thank you, too!
