I got an email!! Yes I did! And it had a special link, to reserve a moderate resort online with a "limited special rate." I followed the link, and did a quote. Then I went without a link and quoted the same thing. IT IS NO DISCOUNT AT ALL. The email even said that rooms were limited at this special rate, for dates 4/17/05-7/4/05, lol.

Huh. Got all excited for NOTHING but an ad, apparently. The bottom of the email even said it was a special offer just for baseballwidow@........

WaaahH!!

Oh No! I feel your pain! How lowsy of them to do that to you! Are you positive it wasn't a discount? No extra perk or anything? Isn't it illegal to advertise a special rate when in truth it is rack rate? Why don't you post your dates and resort and let one of us check it... then we'll see for sure.

Poor Baby!

Someone had a great idea...to let someone else compare quotes with me. Here is what I got following the "special link."

6/20-6/25 $830 at CBR. Regular standard view room.

Darn!

Beth

Unbelievable! I just ran your dates and resorts through and it was $830.70! I would call CRO right now and ask politely where is the discount you promised on your email!!!!!!!!!!

I just checked AAA and can get a std room for $126/nt for those nights. So, unless the deal included a 5-day parkhopper premium pass w/ dining, it definitely sounds close to false advertising.

With a $65 - $80 (depending on where you live) AAA membership, a four night/five day stay at the CBR should only run you around $500.

Sorry to hear about your disappointment, but good luck in your continuous search for discounts!

Just a couple of thoughts on it...

Maybe the link was wrong (on their part)?

Rooms are in limited quantity with these discounted offers. Maybe the resort and date you tried were unavailable for the discount, so it just gave you rack rate? (Which, if that is the case, is wrong IMO because how is someone supposed to know that it's rack rate without checking?)

Anyway, I suggest you call Disney and ask them about it. Perhaps just tweaking your travel dates or resort can find you that discount. Good luck!! :cheer2:

I would call. That happened to somebody else here on the board as well. You should call them and tell them that you received something for a special rate and you did just as the email said, but it was rack rate. See what they can do. If you get a less than magical person or somebody unwilling to assist, kindly ask for a manager.

That's really sad. I can tell you that my e-mail which was for a nice deal back in December did not have an internet link at all. I had to call. Maybe it's some sort of ad campaign but it sounds like a BAD one. I'm sorry that happened to you and I would definitely call!! :confused3

Isn't that false advertising then? Pretending to offer something they really aren't?

I have gotten e-mails from Disney like that, I just figured they are ads. I also have gotten e-mails that really are discounts so maybe you'll get one of those eventually. I just got a Disney e-mail the other day for Disneyland. that was a first for me. It offered one adult at child rate or one child free. To bad I don't plan on going to Disneyland anytime soon.

They asked me if there was a code in the email anywhere and there wasn't. He told me those were their normal rates.

I thought about that when someone posted that question above. It said limited rooms at this rate. There are a limited numbers...all the rooms on property but that is a limit. :confused3

I think they want to drive us all mad so we'll spend more money in the parks!

But to advertise a limited number of rooms "at this special rate" and then it be rack rate is false advertising.

I went back to re-read mine...mine didn't say special rate...just rate. I have never felt that Disney deals well with their loyal customers, except the catalog division through the Best Guest program and even that was a bit strange till recently when they released and the rules and regulations. It was never known how people became part of the program. The stores were the same way.

"As you might imagine, there are lots of fantastic select Walt Disney World Resort hotels to choose from, like Disney Value Resorts:
• $99 per night plus tax
This rate is available most nights 4/17/05 to 8/27/05. The number of rooms available at this rate is limited though, so be sure and book soon!"

I gotcha. They are not offering a special rate, per se...they are just being deceitful about how they get the readers attention. But essentially, that is still lying. That is rack rate, so saying that the number of rooms available at that rate is limited is a lie. If they did not have dates, I could see the round-about argument for that by Disney saying, "Oh, this price is only for regular season....but they have listed the dates." Well, sorry you guys did not get a discount on that email.
