I'm out here too. It will be nice when everyone gets back to let us know how thier trips were.

I received a platinum Loews card in the mail yesterday, which surprised me since I only received my blue level card about a week or so ago and have not yet earned platinum status. When I called UO reservations to see if I could upgrade my room on an existing reservation, they have me in the system as blue level. They gave me a number to call Loews to confirm my status which I do not think I will do since as I said, I have not yet earned platinum status (though I hope to sometime soon!). Has anyone else had this experience?

IMGONNABE40..........I'm not so sure how your Loees card works, but with our credit cards, sometimes if you buy something that costs alot (£££££) they up your credit and your status!!! even when you never asked for it. On our last trip to Florida - we used a credit card alot for meals, tickets, etc., and when we got back went up to a "Gold" status.

OOH Barry, Alton Towers is a great idea! Oblivion or Nemesis first? One of the hotels has rooms that are themed to the rides and looks very cool. I really want to go there!!!!!!!

Selina, have you ever been there or to Blackpool? DS wants to go to Alton Towers so badly and keeps asking DH if he can go along everytime he goes to London on a business trip. It looks like a really fun park!

damo....yes I have been, but it is quite a few years ago now. I think it has grown enormously since I was last there.

Seriously, if anyone fancies a trip to England, I would love to meet up with you. There are a few other parks around in the "South"......closer to me........Thorpe Park, Chessington World of Adventures, Legoland for young children.

But none of them compare to "Universal/IOA"......I just can't wait to save enough to be able to book my next trip!!

Hello! Been away for the weekend - trip planning with SIL.

We went to Alton Towers a few weeks ago and it was dreadful. It was a Sky Subscriber's special promotion weekend, but absolutely no effort seemed to have been made to accommodate the extra people. Dirty, peeling paint, surly staff, horrible expensive food with ridiculous queues, and very inaccurate and contradictory information on the ride times boards.

The wait for Air was 120 minutes at one point. Needless to say we didn't ride.

We walked out of the park at 7.10, queued for the Monorail til 7.50 and finally got back to our car, having picked our way through a field and un-footpathed car parks in the semi-darkness, at 8.10. We would have walked but there are no signs to the various car parks and we had no idea which way to go.

Some of the rides were fun, and it was good as pre-Florida practice for my smallest nephew (3) who braved the mine train and the river rapids, but otherwise a big disappointment. Glad we only paid £8 (special offer) not £28.

Fortunately, it's almost time to go back to Florida! Woo hoo!
