What a disaster!!

Day #4 (Wednesday) Part 1

I thought I have a good night sleep and actually, I did. However, I still ends up woke up before 6:00am. Sun hasn't even risen yet. I got off the bed as quietly as possible so I wouldn't wake up my DW. I grabbed my camera bag and tripod. Slowly tip toe out the room.

Sky was clear but dark. Moon was shining for miles. Sun has not rise yet. Air temperature was in the high 50s. Not a soul was in the parameter. I quickly set up my camera/tripod by the pool area aiming towards the resort. That proves to be quite a challenge. High voltage spot lights were shining towards me. I was able to capture a few shots that I would consider somewhat acceptable.

After spending approximately 30 minute of shooting and setup changes, I can sense the sun was about to rise any moment. It's time to relocate and find a different location. This time, I headed to the boat dock. I quickly set everything up as fast as I can while the sunlight has already begun to peep through the horizon slowly but surely. There was no wind. The morning brisk air gave me a jolt of enery. It felt like the entire universe was in serenity. The lagoon water looked more like mirror without any wave. I can clearly see the perfect water reflection between the land and the water. A few shot of this perfect set up is in order here.

I was a bit surprise how this turn out. All I can see was a tiny bit of sunlight just about to shine through. I really thought I was in a different dimension. I shot as many as I can before I gather my gear and headed back to the resort.

As soon as I got inside the building, the hallway was empty. I got another quick shot.

I then move on to the lobby afterward. I took a few more shot before I went back to the room. Unfortunately, the lobby just doesn't have enough light to get a great shot. This is the best I can do.

When I got back to the room, DW was up and ready to go. We have ADR at Chef Mickey's for breakfast @ 7:30am this morning. So we left as soon as I walked into the room and headed back to the boat dock. What a different 30 minutes make. By the time we got to the boat dock, sun was already as bright and strong as it can be.

What a great view to the brand new Bay Lake resort from the boat ride. The bright warm sunrise really gave the buildings a beautiful glow.

Awsome pics.

I've seen those collectibles around WDW. COuldn't bear to look at the price tag, so I didn't. I knew without looking that these were above and beyond anything I'd be willing to pay. They are so wonderfully crafted though, aren't they? Perhaps one day when DS4 is grown and out of college, I will have more money to spend on things that I want. Doubt it, though...

I love the idea of doing the Disney photo book, but I bet you could just do a separate book for Wilderness alone. I can't get enough of your WL pictures. But then, I start missing it too much and it makes it hard to look!!! Can't live with them, can't live without 'em...

Yes. I'be been to the WOD at NYC. The one at NYC has multiple floors and the one at DTD is only one floor but cover a lot of ground. From what I can see, I would say the one at NYC is most likely bigger than DTD. However, both places carry different merchandise. DTD store carry a lot of park related stuff. I like how you can create your own Mr. Potato head there. :rotfl:

You can do Mr. Potato head at NYC too, it's on the second floor :) I think I have been there maybe one to many times:rotfl2:

Whew! I'm all caught up. I'm sure your photobook will be amazing, do you plan to have it just be photo's or will you include any text?

Thanks. I am not sure about the text part yet. I know I will have heading for different sections and maybe a few caption here and there. As for writing something in the book, that might be way out of my league.

But I plan to post some draft layout of the book and you all can make comments about it.

Day# 7 (Saturday) Valentine's Day Part 5

It only took us a whole 2 minutes walked from the BWV lobby to FFC.

FFC.jpg

DW told the CM that we were early and see if he can get us in. The nice CM told us to see what he can do. In less than 5 minutes, he got us a table. Nice CM...

This is the first time we try this restaurant. Once we walked in, the restaurant felt very different. I felt like we were in a toy store more than a restaurant. The place was hopping. It seems to me the FFC has more guests that are singles than married couple or family. That's just my observation.

I was so relief once we sat down. My feet finally got some rest for the next hour or two. Our server was a very nice girl. All we want for drink was just a Coca-cola for me and a glass of ice tea for DW, nothing fancy. However...appetizer, that's a different story.

DW and I both have the same appetizer. Chilled Wild Gulf Shrimp Cocktail - Frisee, shaved radishes, spiced hearts of palm, creamy verde sauce, Chive-infused Oil. Very fancy. I can't even pronounce half of those ingredients. LOL...

FFC_D7_appetizer.jpg

The shrimp was more than excellent. If any one is going to FFC any time soon, this appetizer is a must.

For main course, DW has their Valentine's Day chef special. Unfortunately, I didn't take any notes and the dish was created specially for Valentine's Day. Therefore, it isn't on their regular menu and I can't remember what's in it. All I can remember it's some sort of Thunder "Surf & Turf" and it has lobster, veal & crab in it. You will have to make up the rest from my pictures. All I can say is DW rated this meal the best for the entire trip.

FFC_D7_B_maincourse.jpg

As for me, since I had red meat for so many meals, so I want to try something different. I ordered the Oak-Grilled Hand-harvested Maine Scallops - Served with Artichoke, Opal Basil and Mascarpone-laced Risotto di Carnarolli, Clamshell Mushroom, Crispy Capers, Artichokes and Pancetta.

FFC_D7_P_maincourse.jpg

The scallops was excellent. Very tender and not over cook at all. However, this is my first time to try risotto and it is okay at best. It was a little too mushy for me. I guess I am very picky when it comes to eating rice. After all, I've been eaten rice for over 40 years. Nonetheless, the dish itself wasn't bad at all.

For dessert, DW had Gingersnap-crusted Deep-dish Apple Tart - Almond cream, morello cherry coulis, cinnamon anglaise, maple tuile and rum raisin ice cream

FFC_D7_B_desert.jpg

For me, I had the Chef's Special No Sugar Added Specialty - Walnut-crusted Florida Tangerine Cheesecake - winter citrus compote, pomegranate essence, anglaise sauce and creme fraiche.

FFC_D7_P_desert.jpg

Both dessert were very good. However, mine was a little different since it had no sugar in it but it still taste very sweet. One top of that, we even had a couple of latte to wash down the dessert and it was more than excellent.

By the time dinner was over, it's already pass 8:30pm. We got back to WL at about 9:30pm. Once we got back to our room, I can't wait to take my shoes off. As soon as I peeled my socks off, there was a blister on the bottom of my left foot about size of a quarter. It was puffed out and I can feel and see the fluid under the skin.:eek: (Major OUCH!!!) On my right foot, it was another blister but about size of a dime, a bit smaller. (Still an OUCH!!!) :headache: No matter why my feet became painfully numb.:scared1:

We then spend the rest of the night packing. It took us over an hour to make sure we got everything, all packed so we don't have to rush the next morning. However, since our flight leave at 4:30pm the next day. We still have the whole morning to enjoy our final stay and we don't have to check out until 11:00 am. anyway. On top of that, we still have one final ADR at WCC. Initially, this ADR was at 11:00am so we can have breakfast. But we end up changed it to 12:00pm and have lunch instead.

By 11:00pm, we were showered and Zzzzzzzzzzz...

Well...there you have it. The whole trip is over...almost except for one more ADR. However, disaster is not over yet. Nothing we went through for the past 7 days had prepared us to deal with the disaster we were walking into. So stay tune :surfweb: for the most stressful part of the entire trip in the last 2 installments. :scared::scared:

I am also trying to complete the website for all my pictures so I can open it up before I post the final updates. Please be patience with me.

You leave us hanging one more time:confused3. Enjoying the TR even though it seems like you were there for a month.:lmao: Hope those blisters are gone by now. Looking forward to the "END" and so more outrageous pictures.

Your dinner looked and sounded wonderful. Your feet sound horrible. I am so sorry that it happened to you.

I can't possible believe that the worst is yet to come. I'm trying to predict and can't think of a thing.:scared1:

2 weeks from today we are headed to FL.

omg the pokey feet with blisters isn't the last disaster?? And the forgetting the camera bag wasn't the worst!? I'm almost afraid to read the next installments. :sad2:

But I did enjoy this installment. I love the presentation of the food at FFC! I've never been there before but it looks fantastic! I don't think I would be able to eat food that looked so pretty

Topdog....I finally got caught up and now I am left hanging!!!!!!!! Your poor feet :sad2: The photos of the food at FFC had my mouth watering. It is tempting to try and change one of my ADR's to here!!!

I'm so sorry about the blisters. But at least they popped up on your last night! Great pics of the food porn. Yummy! I cannot imagine what is going to happen now!!!! You already lost your wallet. I hope it didn't ruin your vacation because you have been a great sport about all of your mishaps! :)

Yikes! I am trying to catch up! I'm on pg 44. Great TR Love Pictures (of course!) Maybe I can catch up tonight while the family watches TV. :happytv:

Mmmmm your food looks great at FFC! I ate there 3 years ago and I had the scallops and risotto too!!! :rotfl: You know what they say....great minds think alike!! ;) I remember it was a really great meal!
Ughh....your blisters sounds so painful. We need to get you into some Crocs for your next trip! :thumbsup2

 Hi TD!! I haven't visited your TR for about a week and a half, as I was trying to postpone the end.:sad1: I was so happy to see it isn't over yet!:yay: I have enjoyed your TR so so much, as I adore Wilderness Lodge, and WDW holds a special place in my heart, having been introduced to it by my dear uncle and Godfather. He went every year starting when the park opened in 1971 until 1985, when he took me and my family for the first time. One of the things he really enjoyed was seeing WDW through my children's eyes, since he never married nor had any children of his own. We were able to share WDW with my Uncle Leo five times, until he passed away in 1996, but his love of Disney lives on in me and my children, and hopefully, someday, my grandchildren. He too was an avid photographer.

I'm anxiously waiting to hear what the problem was with your feet. Did you have bone spurs? I know it was one of the most painful things I've ever had. Your photo book looks like it is going to be awesome. Can't wait to see it!

Great Food Porn!!!
Thanks.

It's worth to try FFC at least once. It's that good.

It took every ounce of my energy to took on the last wave of disaster. It wasn't easy.
One more disaster?

I can't stand it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Trust me. I can't make this stuff up. :rotfl:

Awwww...it's nice you share a piece of your family history to us. I am sure your Uncle Leo was a wonderful man.

The problem of my feet was because of a couple of blisters from too much walking.
