Today is our holiday open house! I’m so excited it is the first time most of our friends and family will see all the changes to the house! We are expecting about 40 people.
I have a Turkey in the oven (making Turkey sliders), I’m about to start the rest of the food prep. I have amazing friends and most are helping with food or drinks. BFF is coming at noon to help with last minute things.
Still no meal planning going on here, which is weird for me. I have a dog that has seizures and unfortunately she had one as I was going to bed last night, so my day will be spent just being around, so that she’s ok. (She’s on medication and sees a Neurologist.)
Might check the outside freezer for some meals that I’d prepped.
Got to the fancy pants store a couple of miles away for some grocery shopping. We received a beautiful gift box of nice cuts of protein - tonight will be Wagyu burgers. Tomorrow I'm going to put together chicken and gravy in the crockpot before we head out to church. Always nice to come home and have a late lunch/early dinner on Sundays.
Finally started cookie baking since at last I’m un-germy. Good thing I started putting the dry ingredients together since I discovered I’m almost out of every sugar type and can’t find the blessed dates. Sent my home attendant to the store and had her pickup everything but the dates . She’ll pick them up on her way in tomorrow and I guess the hermit bar dough will
“meld” in the fridge meantime. I could make them w/o the dates but my Aunt specifically requested the ingredient. The pfeffernuse dough is also resting in the fridge but that’s on purpose. Started the linzer cookie dough but just mixed the dry ingredients. Doublechecked and I do have the seedless raspberry jam.
Dinner was the chicken and veggie soup minus the dumplings to which I added sautéed mushrooms, fried sage and heavy cream. Another clementine for dessert.
I woke up feeling less than stellar & sent DH to the store to pick up something I haven't eaten in probably 30 year. Campbell's Chicken Noodle soup. That sounded like something I could keep down. We'll be breaking saltine crackers in it. I hope I enjoy it as much as I used to.

tonight I made a double batch of Guinness stew-enough to last dh and I a few nights. tomorrow i'm going to set up the crockpot with a batch of taco soup for my non stew enjoying ( ) kids. 3 of us are going to pop out and drive around to look at Christmas lights so I figure it's something easy/warm to come home to.
i'm mentaly trying to plan out meals for the time leading up to Christmas.
We have the first of our Holiday gatherings today.......dear friend of DS and DIL's is visiting from New Orleans (and is our "adopted" daughter).
It'll be lunch.....bringing in food from Red Robin, so likely no dinner tonight.
DD is bring cookies leftover from the 4H bake sale yesterday too.
Last night we went out for dinner. I had seared scallops with mushroom risotto and asparagus and a gingerbread martini. It was all delicious!! DH had a cod dish. The fish was on like a corn chowder with little necks surrounding the dish. He said it was the best thing he’s had there! He also had a maple old fashioned (maybe 2.) Haha
Looks like smoked turkey legs… call it a make up of the missed legs from EPCOT since someone in my party was demanding a turkey leg but we were too far.
UPDATE: it has been cancelled. It was replaced with nasty Jollibee chicken
