I too like to add some red pepper flakes to almost everything. Sometimes, I go a little overboard and my wife is usually the first one to notice

I do. They can stand up to a long cook and not dry out.

I made teriyaki salmon with oven roasted zucchini, summer squash, and peppers. For dessert we have flour-less zucchini brownies from the Skinnytaste website. They came out really good!

On another note, I mentioned to him that you said Bojangles is different in the North, than they are in the South. What's different about them?

I'm curious. Why do they close, after Labor Day, then reopen for Columbus Day? Also, when do they close down completely for the winter & when do they reopen? It seems we're never up there the right time of year.

Tonight we had red, chicken chili and my oldest dd(23) made both a Coconut cream pie and chocolate birthday cake for me. Both were delicious! She sure has come a loooong way with baking. When she was young, probably around 11 or 12, she made me something for a birthday or Mother’s Day and confused the cup of sugar for salt!

We're also in the South. For some reason, I thought you lived up North. It's good to know what the differences are. FWIW, Raising Cane's is my preferred fast food, chicken restaurant. Yes, that includes Chick-Fil-A.

When we were in Cherokee, NC for a month a few years ago, we ate at Brio Italian Grille most nights. I was totally addicted to the lobster bisque. Why am I telling you this? Well, its because there's one within walking distance of our current hotel. I was so excited to go back & have that soup. Unfortunately, as is often the case, things change. It was still good, but it wasn't the crack in a bowl that the original was.

We also shared the shrimp & scallops risotto, which we enjoyed.

Sadly, we won't be returning three nights in a row as I anticipated, but we'll definitely give the Cherokee Brio another try some time.

We had a major storm last night.....started as dust.....you couldn't see anything through it (dust storms are not unusual here, but this was a very severe one). Then the thunderstorm came and it poured and poured and flooded parts of our backyard. I do love rain but this was intense and the wind that came with it was bad. One lightning sounded like it hit something very close.
Airport had to close for a couple of hours, people lost power for a longer time than usual (They have to get power back ASAP because of how hot it is). Trees down everywhere (luckily we only have one big one and it is fine). At least 7 sirens driving on the main road in about a 15 minute time.....not sure what was going on with that.

So this morning it seems like it should be cold out. but it isn't. Cooler than usual though. High 90s. But overcast and more rain due.

Dinner will be Meatloaf, gnocchi, bok choy and bagged salad for dinner tonight.

My daughter and I spent the last three days in the hospital with my granddaughter while she had her baby, so there hasn't been any cooking here. Tonight my son-in-law is making flat enchiladas for all of us.

Tonight will be salmon with steamed broccoli. We have some running around to do after work which will set us back at least an hour. Our son is still away for work, so we're dropping his car off at the shop so they can work on it tomorrow (and the rest of the week if needed). If we get further delayed, it'll be leftover chop suey and I'll save the salmon for tomorrow.

Just been making sandwiches and soup the past couple of days for dinner, while getting ready to see the youngest sweet pea in our grandkid bunch.
It takes quite a bit for me to prep our CA home with all of our animals here and landscaping. So I've been busy making sure things are pristine for our house/pet sitter. Want to keep her happy. It's hard finding a good one!

A little cooler this week, so I made chili (as requested by a kid). I used ground turkey as Aldi had it for under $1/lb. I had made, and froze, some pinto beans a few weeks ago, so threw those in there and let it cook all day. DH is having some of his leftovers from a mexican restaurant the other night. Kids are both at work. So - chili will go into the fridge to serve as dinner the rest of the week.
