Have you tried another berry? I can get local raspberries but blackberries aren’t in season yet.
DH is off today and I sent him to the good butcher when they opened this morning! He said it wasn’t bad when he got there but it was crowded when he left.Heading out early to the best local butcher(and most expensive) for my brisket. I find the local grocery stores lack when it comes to that cut of beef.I grilled Tri tip burgers for dinner last night and made a steakhouse salad. Going to keep it light today, as the 4th is a day long eating fest!

Okay I finally cooked the cut up zucchini and it became roasted cream of zuke soup with a bacon garnish on top. A bowl of it became tonight’s dinner.
Also made some lemon bars to take to sis’s. Better her thighs than mine…oops.
Brisket has been on low and slow since 7am. We’ll probably have around 10 people over. In addition to the BBQ’d meat…all kinds of snacks, & dips…for dinner we’ll have the brisket, beef hotdogs, grilled corn, grilled veggie salad, baked beans and watermelon. My friend always makes a beautiful red, white and blue layered trifle for dessert. It’s so pretty & delicious! At some point we’ll do s’mores later in the evening around firework time!

Same thing planned as posted earlier......everything is ready for the family to arrive.Here the 4th is the same traditional things we've done for 40 years.....just less of it. 7 people instead of 80-100.
Grilled burgers, dogs, some kind of other sausage, potato salad, cole slaw, watermelon, pineapple, strawberries, chips, nacho sauce and tortilla chips.
Dessert ice cream bar.
