I´m still looking for hotels for our upcoming trip and I´m wondering what a "full" bed is?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

It's smaller than a queen bed. I forget by how many inches...anyway, it's not that much smaller. 2 average sized adults can sleep in one.

It's a double-sized bed. Does that make sense. It is bigger than a twin, smaller than a Queen.

It will seem small to two people who sleep on a Queen or King, but DH and I slept in one for 14 years with no problem.

Bigger than a single but smaller than a queen.

A full size bed is a double bed. Not a twin, queen or king.

I believe it is the smallest of the double beds...It will fit 2 small adults comfortably...now you see the pic in my signature, we would not be comfortable!!! :rotfl: I am not sure of the measurements of the full sized bed though. HTH!

Thanks everyone. I think we should manage then. We occasionally share our queen with a child without any problem.

Do you think 3 children (2,5 and 10) could share a full bed?

Yes, no problem.

King Size Mattress 76" x 80"
Cal-King Size Mattress 72" x 84"
Olympic Queen Size Mattress 66" x 80"
Queen Size Mattress 60" x 80"
Full Size Mattress 53" x 75"
Twin XL Size Mattress 38" x 80"
Twin Size Mattress 38" x 75"

Ya know- that cal- king cracks me up. People from California are automatically taller and skinier?

As long as they don't mind being close to each other. If they need room to be comfortable then they may have a problem.

My friend has put her 6, 8 and 13 yr old on a full bed without any problems but they have always been really close and didn't mind snuggling up.

These are the US standards. Measurements in inches:

Twin Mattress Size (Single): 39" x 75"
Full Mattress Size (Double): 54" x 75"
Queen Mattress Size: 60" x 80"
King Mattress: 76" x 80"

Three kids can share a full, but someone is probably going to end up getting kicked. ;)

I don't think they would be comfortable. I have almost 2, 7 & almost 10 year old and they would definitely not be comfortable. DD 21 mo. would be sideways.

When I saw the title of the thread I thought...now that's a personal question!;)

DS has always been a big kid. When he was young, he liked to crawl into bed with me and DH on weekend mornings when we'd try to sleep late. Of course the 3 cats were there as well. Now, that was a "full" bed!

ds6 has a full bed in his bedroom and I wouldn't try to sleep w/him! He's a tiny thing...but he tosses and turns so much. If your kids don't wake up sideways in the morning, they should be fine ;)

It's one that already has a paying customer. It sounds like the cheap hotel is trying to overbook.

Ask them to keep looking until they can find a room with empty beds for your family.

There's just no point in sharing a room with strangers, though it is a way to meet new people.

I remember travelling when I was 12 (I was very petite, about 4'6", 60 lbs), and my parents tried to fit three of us (age 12, 11, and 9) in a full size bed. It was very uncomfortable. My younger brother turned around perpendicular, and was kicking me all night, every night. I just slept on the floor--it was much nicer.

Well- In my house a full bed is any bed that I am in because the children will find me and jump in! I swear I could be sleeping in a closed up murphy bed and those little dumplings will sniff me out and crawl right in! Good thing they are cute!

Full bed here in England is called a 4' 6" double and is the most common size of bed due to the way our houses are built it is the biggest bed most people can comfortably fit in their bedrooms :( With DH being 6' 4" tall we would love to have a 5' king bed but it just won't fit! Mind you years ago you could get 4' double beds :scared1:

Claire ;)
