What’s up with Southwest 24 check-in??

Just got back from a short stay in WDW. I notice when I did our 24 hr check-in for boarding pass this pass Sunday, I got A60 and my wife and son got B13 & 14. That was exactly at the 24 hr mark in being able to get them. I really did not think of it being that bad. When it came time for doing it at the resort (SSR), I forgot the time and was about a hour and a half pass the 24 hr mark. Went to the front desk and they were great in doing it for me. BUT, they were as shock as I was, when I got an A16 for me and my wife and son ended up with B30 and B31. What give’s? Why the big different, plus how did I get the A16 when I didn’t do it right at the 24 hr mark. When talking to others at the airport, one person did his family right at the 24 hr mark and received all in order ‘B’ tickets. Any idea of why?

People are probably using Early-Bird Check-In especially for their flights back home. I'm thinking of EBCI as more of a convenience, now I don't have to get Internet access exactly 24-hours ahead of my flight. Not sure what's up with one member of your party getting that highly-coveted "A" and the others getting mid-Bs.

A16 should have gone to an A-lister. It's possible the passenger with A16 just cancelled his reservation. You were the lucky passenger.

B30 and 31 sounds right for our other two family members

ON Wednesday my wife go A58. In the past I've been able to login at the exact time and get A16 or something close. All the early A passes are now going to early check-in.

Being the lucky one maybe true. But I find it interesting that there was only a A1 & A2 for business, with no one from A3 thru A15, then me at A16. Knowing that A1 thru 15 are held for the business flyers, would not SW know if they are not filled, to then give those numbers out to the EBCI? I'm just curious to see if others are seeing this also. It may be better for one to hold out longer now for the better loading numbers, barring of course that of a full plane load.

A1-A15 are held for business select. SW wants to be able to sell business select to last minute passengers so those numbers are left open. I'm not sure if a BS BP number is released if a BS passenger cancels his reservation or if the number is kept open so SW can resell that seat as business select.

Considering that one would almost have to assume that possibly B1-B10 are really the end of the A boarding passes. On the flights I take there is rarely more than a few business passengers.

I thought it was A1-A15 for A-Listers and Business Select? Regardless, there sometimes are glitches in the system that award those number to apparently random travelers. We flew on the same flight with some acquaintances last year and the husband had pass A1, but is not a frequent flier and did not have a Business Select ticket.

A1-A15 are supposed to be for Business Select only. A-list passengers are assigned early A passes 16 and up according to how many there are. But it's definitely possible for a cancellation near the 24 hour mark by an A-lister to result in someone unexpectedly snagging a low A pass. As for how your husband got A1, that truly does sound like a glitch.
