After we checked in to the ES and made it to our room, we unpacked completely and then headed to DTD. In all honesty, I knew it wouldn't be a late night. Joshua was feeling whooped from his multiple games in the 90* weather and the rest of us, well somehow the driving took it out of us.
We headed over to DTD with thoughts of Earl of Sandwich in our heads. But before that I had to get this pic; ya know the one that screams: we are at Disney!!!!!
I received a coupon for a free birthday sandwich and because we don't have EOS in Utah, it was use it now or let it expire. I had read they brought the Cannonball back (their meatball sub). We all love meatball subs so we ordered 3 of those and a greek salad. It totally hit the spot. Funny when we pulled up, there wasn't anyone manning the parking. Wonder if that's a typical Sunday thing?
DTD was crowded which was what I was expecting. There was a fun band playing and we stopped to watch for a few minutes. They must have had family in the audience because there were about 10 people all set up in front with camping chairs. They danced and sang; it was really cool.
First glimpse of the Monorail:
And another parked inside. Gosh how I wished we were boarding and heading into the parks.
Our plan wasn't to really buy anything the first night, just walk around, soak it in, and do some window shopping but when I saw the below, I couldn't resist....having a graduate and all. I wasn't sure she would wear it so I skipped having her name embroidered. In fact I ended up forgetting so I will get her name stitched in when I go back at the end of this month.
And if the hat fits.....
We went into quite a few shops...
Lego:
D Street where I could spend both copious amounts of time and money in:
How cute is the Mickey STOP signal in red?
I saw this mug and how cute is it?!?! I wanted it but had my eye on another Disney mug. I like to buy a new one every trip and I am glad I waited though I may buy this one during Alison's BIG 50 trip in just over two weeks.
At this point, our exhaustion started to set in and it was only 7:00.

We decided to head back to the ES and take a dip in the hot tub.
We arrived back about 7:25 and I realized that our Manager's Reception still had 5 minutes left. I know they close those rather promptly so Michael dropped me in the front while he parked the car. The manager was funny because as I was running in she said: you better grab two drinks each, we're closing up soon. LOL!
The offered Bud/Bud Light Beer, various house wines, and well liquors.
The kids made Shirley Temples, grabbed some goldfish, chips, salsa, and homemade potato chips and we headed upstairs to change. He was our gourmet bounty.
I tipped the bartender $5 and it was well worth it!
We changed, went in the hot tub, and met a family that lives about 10 minutes away from us.

Seriously. We have mutual friends in common too. They were there for a cheer competition. Can I say I wasn't heartbroken that that Sunday was the last day of the comp?
After the hot tub we went upstairs, everyone showered, and it was lights out by 10.
To be continued......
