We've Bounced Back like Tigger SB09 TR NEW 9/11 CLOSING TIME....

Trickled over from the Disability threads after I saw the very cool guide book for your son.

That is a great idea and I may have to try that so we don't get stuck riding Winnie the Pooh 100 times in a row:goodvibes

On to the fun…..

Day 1) Thursday March 26th 2009 “We’ve Bounced Back”

Our arrival day-Plan for the Day: No Parks, lunch/dinner at CSR, go to the pool, maybe DTD, my ETA to CSR was 3:30 pm (how close was I?)

The morning went well (after I was done Dising w/ you), I had time for a quick wash-up and I big glass of OJ and a yogurt. The kids started getting up (all except Margaret) and they had the same thing in the kitchen, everyone was dressed teeth were brushed…the last few things added to the suitcases and DH was loading up the van w/ all of things. When that was done and the big kids were getting in the van. We got Margaret up, put a sweatshirt on her and in the carseat (not even a diaper change).

Everything was moving quite well…w/out a hitch….

At least for now! :rolleyes1

We headed out of our driveway about 5:10 am…about 10 minutes later than we had planned….oops wonder if that morning Dis would do us in? :surfweb:

After DH asking me do you have the boarding passes for the 5th time….YES, dear

Do you have the Disney check-in stuff……………YES, dear

Well what did we forget?:confused3

I realize I forgot in the last minute rush to pack my eye cream (well I’m almost 35) and my face lotion oh well…..but then DH realizes he forgot his nosestrips….the one’s I bought just the day before. What do we do? He’d never sleep w/out them….

Luckily a 24 hour Walgreens wasn’t to far out of our way. In he stops. I was a bit anxious waiting for him to return. Aldine and I notice some older lady go in and come back out before he came back out…and what did she buy….oh bother smokes at 5 in the morning……(sorry)

Anyways he’s back out a minute later and w/ a bottle of Dr. Pepper (I swear that is his blood) and we are back off about 5:25 am ish.

We made such excellent time and were at the parking place just about 6 am. I couldn’t believe it. So in the end, it was a good thing we thought we were running late!

We check-in and discover we will have to leave our keys w/ the van…but no-time to be nervous about it now. We quickly load our stuff get on the shuttle and over to the airport only 1 block away.

When we got off at curbside we saw my Mom in line w/ her luggage at curb-side check-in, what luck! It was a super quick service and the man helped me w/ our luggage so I didn’t need to budge several things as Matt was catching up to us in line. We checked our 6 bags and went inside.

I’m glad it was quick and tipped the man $12.00…as well Michael was starting to show some signs of trouble…he was becoming very hyper and antsy…I was a bit worried how he would manage waiting till take-off. :sad2:

We waited just inside the airport for my Dad to arrive (he dropped my Mom off first then took their car to the same airport parking place), Margaret was the first to see him come in w/ announcing “Ja-Ja”

Then we went thru the security line which didn’t take too long, which again was nice…here is a fuzzy picture of my Mom getting extra screening,…she has a knee replacement.

We got over to our gate around 6:50 ish am. It was basically empty….and luck would have it, there was a kids table w/ little stools and a tv behind the check-in counter. The shows were old cartoons on Boomerang. I immediately thought of KathyRN when they played ___please fill in the blank_________ w/ the laughing dog.

The kids ate their muffins and apples I had brought from home while watching the shows which was great! It really helped pass the time especially for Michael. Margaret sat w/ them for a little bit and then hung w/ us in the seats. She as well really liked looking out the window at the planes. My Dad & Aldine also went walking around to explore the terminal.

I checked into a pre-boarding blue slip from the gate attendant (via Amy’s tip) and we received one. Right before boarding I take an unwilling Mae to use the restroom and change Margaret’s diaper and into some clothes from her pj’s. DH tells me pre-boarding will begin at 8:?? am…now I didn’t have a watch and surely didn’t realize it was that close to that time or that we took that long in the restroom…but as I come back to our gate…everyone is lined up to board and DH is up front looking frantic :scared: that we should be boarding and where are the passes and our blue slip….right in my purse in his hand. :snooty:

Oh well we got on the plane a minute before the regular boarding and the front rows on each side of the plane at bulkhead were open…so I say let’s take these. Little did I know you couldn't have your stuff down by your feet…too late to change now. This proved to a bit of an issue at the beginning of the flight.

Up NEXT our flight and arrival to Orlando….

Thanks for reading J- :wizard:

Oh ps Amy....the banana isn't dancing in the smiles rectangle...weird

Great start! I'm glad the preboarding thing worked for you guys. Bulkhead seats are great - except for the little issue of your "stuff"! I thought you could keep your bag by your feet AFTER take off?

And what's up with that banana guy?? He's dancing now? I thought it was my computer - apparently not... :confused3

I'm excited to read your TR! It reminds me of my trip. We seem to have so much in common with what we did, were we stayed, the airline we flew, etc...

Since our youngest is five, we didn't get to board first, but we did get seats paired somewhat near each other. We were late to the airport and had to sweat it out during security check, and then run to our gate. Our neighbor, who was our ride, was late getting up, and therefore made us late. Who would have guessed that the Indianapolis airport would be packed before six AM?

Sounds like you had things under control so far.:goodvibes

Yay....we're off!

Sounds like a pretty uneventful morning, except for the Walgreens stop. (I would have grabbed a Diet Dr Pepper right along with your DH!)

The kids look so cute in their Disney gear!

Looking forward to the next update! :goodvibes

(PS..Amy.....my banana in the smiley box isn't dancing either....:sad1:)

Yes but how soon after take off can you get your bag is the question......

He's pretty finicky lately

Yes I'll be curious how our likes or dislikes of CSR compare....

OUCH!!!! sometimes I wonder if it is a pain to arrive so early, but I have done that rushing and running to the gate thing before no fun....Driving ourself turned out better than I thought

Sounds like you had things under control so far.:goodvibes

Arriving in Orlando...still Day 1)

So I last left you we had just boarded the plane and took the 2 rows across from each other in bulkhead. I quickly grabbed a few things from the bags to amuse the kids during take off and the beginning of the flight.

We left right on time w/ a fully packed plan including 3 extra SW attendants who were going to Denver then to Orlando, but because of some major snow storm in Denver they rode w/ us…..

The flight itself wasn’t too bad, but we did fly over some rain I think in lower Indiana & Tennessee so the seatbelt light took awhile to turn off and it was probably a good ½ hr to 45 minutes before I could retrieve our bags for anything extra for the kids.

I sat w/ Mae on the aisle and Margaret on the Window. She was a bit antsy :hyper:throughout the flight and kept unbuckling her belt and squirming around and I’m not sure if we just didn’t have her CARES belt tightened enough but it slipped down the seat a few times and loosened up. Which made me just a little nervous. I tried to amuse her w/ some toys I had and maybe coloring, but what she liked were these smiley face stickers :) I brought and no she didn’t want to put them on a sheet a paper but on the window….

Yes that was fun, every time I tried to stop her she’d pull down the window shade and giggle then SCREAM not necessarily a mad scream….but loud enough. So during descent and before getting off the plane I picked off about a dozen stickers off the window….

Sorry, I didn’t have my bag so I didn’t have the camera to take any pictures….plus toward the end of the flight I was having some mild heartburn and desperately needed a TUM….I was a bit nervous thinking oh no this could turn bad

but luckily it never did and passed. When DH put the kids bags back up in the bins he got me some Tums from my bag.

And I have to say it was funny I could slightly overhear most of the Flight Attendants’’ conversations in their jump seats just kiddy-corner from me. (I swear I wasn’t eavesdropping) and at one point one male from our flight and a Denver guy were having conversations about their clothes….made me snicker.

We arrived in Orlando a little before 12:15 pm, a few minutes early…nice! So far :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 for SW!

We got off the plane w/out any major issues. Everyone went ahead while I waited w/ a slightly damp Margaret….I think the overnight diaper helped but she still leaked thru a bit…(bummer) for our stroller…and of course ours was the last one brought up. DH even came back looking for me.

A bathroom break for me and changed into my shorts from our carry-on bag, plus I had the girls change into their’s as well and I changed Margaret into a change of clothes. But whoops the shorts were just a wee bit tight on her chubby thighs. Then we got a bit turned  around in the terminal before taking the pre-monorail. Here is my Dad and Michael:

Made it over to the DME check-in and on our bus to CSR by 1:00 pm.

We had way better time between getting off the plane to this point than last year.

Here are a couple pictures of Margaret and Aldine waiting to go on the bus:

100_1943.jpg

We had a pretty full bus of guests on their way to various resorts. We left the airport by 1:15 pm and stopped at POP and CBR before arriving at CSR (the bus also went to AKL after us). On the bus, I pulled out a toddler chicken lunchable I had brought from home for Margaret to start eating and then realized I forgot to pack a spoon for the applesauce. She ate all the graham crackers and ½ of the chicken strips. Seemed enough to tide her over.

She wasn’t as squirmy for the ride this time which was a good sign for our future bus rides throughout the week. Here a couple pic’s during our ride:

I didn’t take a pic of the Welcome Arch this time, but my Mom and I started the bus applauding as we passed under it. :yay:

:welcome:

We have made it to WDW! I am so super excited as is everyone else. We’ve had no major issues, no delays…this trip is turning out great so far. I can’t wait to see what CSR looks like and how our trip will be.

Up NEXT: Arriving at CSR and No Peppers in the Pepper Mart….

Thanks for reading,

J-:tink:

It's nice when you get thru the airport smoothly.

Next time bring me with you.....I have always have a spoon in my mama bag!

I'm glad you made it through the flight! I'm always so tense - even when things are going smoothly - just waiting for one of the kids to melt down!

Yay! You made it to WDW!! I can't wait to see CSR. :cool1:
