Wetness Level of Splash Mountain

Coming from someone that is a Disneyland veteran I know that you can ride in the back row of DL's Splash Mountain and only get an effect similar to walking through misters.

Is this true for WDW's Splash Mountain as well? Do you get more wet on this version? Is there another row you recommend to not get as wet?

Love this ride and want to try WDW's version but also don't want to walk around wet afterwards. Thanks!

We were just there earlier this month and rode it about a dozen times. It seems like there was a better chance of staying dry after the big drop if you were in the back. Having said that, if there was a smaller child in the front, or if the adults in front ducked, then the next row got the big splash.

There were also other places during the ride when you might get soggy even if you're in the back row. Best way to ensure you don't get wet at all is probably to put on a rain poncho.

We sat in the middle. We got a little wet but we weren't drenched and with floridas heat we were dry within like a half hour or so of riding the ride lol

We've only ever ridden it once, but we didn't get so much as a drop on us. Was kind of a bummer :lmao:

We rode in the very back so it wasn't too bad. In fact I honestly got more wet from the kid behind us who decided to stick his hand in the water and splash people. :sad2:

I got stuck in the front seat the one and only time I rode and we got very wet. If I were to ever ride again I'd try to refuse the front. Don't enjoy walking around wet. Will also never ride kali river rapids at ak again. That one isn't even fun.

Usually the back is dry, except last trip I rode in the back and then got nailed by the side spray on the turn by the drop. Not sure if it was the actual spray from the boat or if it was the fountains that go off when the boats drop, either way I was drenched. Only time I came off this ride dripping. I was surprised to say the least, but it's Florida and wet happens.

Oh, and do you get wet???!! :headache: The last time we rode it (first thing, no less) I got completely drenched and had to go completely change - dh barely got wet! :confused3

It's definitely 'hit & miss' so it's up to you whether you want to take the chance! I got wet the most when the boats stopped by the waterfall and it was 'continuous'!!! I was not a happy camper! But, I also got wet on the waterfall.

Yes, back seats at WDW and DL similar. Slightly drier of you sit on left side of back row.

For quite awhile that back row at DL was the only place we sat, and I'm mystified at the concept of someone not getting wet back there. I think you might just be a lucky person.

Just be prepared. Wear easy dry clothes or bring other clothes. Bring flip flops to put on. Put on a poncho to protect your upper body. Have fun then change into dry clothes and continue with your day.

Is it just me, or has the water cannon (which is simulating a splash from the boat coming down the big drop) been turned down?

I can remember getting absolutely soaked by that thing, but it hasn't quite reached the boat in full force over my last few trips.

For us, I thought the wetness level increased since our last trip. I rode it twice last week. Each time I got wet from the "side splashing". It was like a stream that hit me right in the face each time. I sat in the middle and back. I tried to duck, but it did not work.

If you want to stay dry, the best advice I can give is to bring something to sit on. Each time my bottom got wet even before any splashing started because the seat was wet. It might not be practical to have a small towel, but that would have been handy.

Have fun. Splash is one of my favorite rides.

Depends...as others have said where you sit matters. We've been drenched and we've been lightly misted. The back does seem "dryer" than the front.

We were soaked by it in October. Totally soaked! They can adjust the water features as they wish. I've been on Splash and barely had any water on me, I've been on and been as soaked as if I jumped in.

DH and I were soaked last time we went in Nov 2013. It was a somewhat chilly day too. On past trips we haven't gotten wet and that was sitting in a variety of seats. I think we were in the first row last year, but it wasn't fun. It's one thing in July when it's really hot, but in Nov with people wearing jackets, not so much.

Also, after the end zip-a-dee-doo-dah scene the logs are often backed up waiting for people to get off/on the ride, and where you're waiting, there's a waterfall on the RIGHT hand side! Which can get you pretty wet if you're waiting there for a while, so try to sit on the left. And as everyone's said, it's pretty hit and miss, but stay away from the front row if you don't want to get wet. The seats tend to be wet when you first get into your log too, so maybe have something to sit on.. Actually, I guess you're safest with a poncho! :)

My daughter and I were in the very front and barely got wet at all.

Thanks for all of the great tips and advice everyone. We will be visiting MK next week and are not looking too forward to getting soaked while its cold out.

We don't mind getting somewhat damp like from the seats as I think that is to be expected. Just hoping not to be drenched. I know there's still a chance but it sounds like our best bet will be to ask for the back row.

Its seemed pretty random to me. We were in FL for 6 weeks this Summer and since we're normally only here in Winter I looked forward to getting wet on the 100 degree heat index days. Rode 3 times, and never got a drop. I felt cheated. :)

Rode it again 2 weeks ago and got soaked. go figure.....

Josh on easywdw said that they turn off certain water features sometimes and that your best bet to tell how wet you will get is to stand at the exit for a minute and look at the people getting off.
