For anyone who does not know this WestJet has updated their website and if you had a profile on there it's now gone, which means you needed to create a new one. For example I had planned on adding our Passport information and etc before we check-in online, so we wouldn't have to do it then. However since our old profile is gone I can not do that and when I go to type in our reservation code on the itinerary lookup it re-directs me to to a website called Virtually There, however it says please enter a valid reservation code. Now I am not worried about our reservation being lost or anything because it's paid for and when I put in a fake reservation search for our flights, the exit row seats we pre-paid for were still listed as being taken. Anyway tomorrow I am planning on calling WestJet to see if there is a way to look up our reservation because I am thinking they are still working out the problems on their site.

So this is just as heads up for anyone with an upcoming reservations with WestJet if they have not seen this yet.
 
Thank you for this tread... I had the same problem and I was wandering if I should get worried.... I will see tomorrow if I call them et resolve de situation
 
I tried retrieving reservation for next month that I made a few weeks ago and it says that you will be unable to do that. I'm going to call them this week to see about whether or not I can still do online/mobile checkins for my upcoming trip. I suspect now. #fail

I would think we can still check-in online because that's listed in a different area on their site, however that's something I also going to ask them about.
 

:eek:WOW. Thanks for the heads up. We have reservations for Dec 1 and I had already entered all my info. Will be checking ASAP.

I had the same problem today.... I was checking to make sure our Nov. flights are still scheduled as planned and my res. code was not valid. I'm sure all is well but I will feel better when I know for sure. I will check back here tomorrow night for updates and maybe give a call to West Jet myself on Tuesday.

You're welcome and I agree it's good that others are also realizing this problem. I will also post an update about what I found out after I call them tomorrow.
 
This was posted on the WestJet site and it looks like they are trying to work out the problems they are having.

This past weekend, WestJet completed an upgrade of our reservation system. We are currently experiencing some technical difficulties with our web site which we are working to resolve as quickly as possible.

Please note that our call center hold times are longer than usual.

We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

You're welcome and I figured after reading that I will wait until their site is back up to check our reservation, because I bet they are getting a lot of calls from others asking the same thing.
 
They are getting a lot of calls...I am a TA and sat on hold for 60 mins this morning. Change is never easy..

Did you keep waiting or hung up? If you kept waiting and eventually spoke to someone what did they say about looking up reservations made prior to this change and not seeing them?
 
I kept waiting..I needed to make a name change (spelling) it took her a few minutes, but she did find it. She said it 'remains to be seen whether this was a system change for the better' or not!;)

Well the fact she did find your reservation was a good sign.
 
I just tried calling however their message said it would be at least a 30 minute wait, so I didn't waste my cell phone minutes right now. I might try again later tonight or tomorrow.
 
Yes, later might be better. At least now they are saying a 30 minute wait..it has been 60 since Saturday morning!
 
The WS website has been offline most of the day. This new reservation system, from what I understand, is supposed to allow for their new frequent flyer program. Considering they've been trying to get that launched for two years or more with multiple false starts and delays, I'm not surprised to see the mess their system is in. They don't seem to do change well at WS.

If anyone is flying with them in the next couple of weeks, make sure you get to the airport early. I've heard the backups are atrocious. :worried:
 
Is that mean it can have some flight delay because of this problem in the next couple of weeks ?
 
Just got off the phone with WestJet who gave me all the latest on this.

As discussed they switched over to a new computer system and it hasn't gone smoothly. They had 60 minute+ wait times for their call centres yesterday and this morning but it seems to have died down now. I was talking to an agent within 13 minutes of calling today.

If you had a reservation with their old system it's still good. The only thing is that the confirmation number you had isn't useful for anything now. You cannot do a web checkin or mobile checkin with it. If you want to do either of these you need to call the WestJet call centre and get a new confirmation number.

There were apparently some flight delays yesterday with people having to all use the checkin desks and agents still getting used to the new system, but a quick scan of today's departures shows that most flights are leaving within 15 minutes of on time today. So I'd expect things to be all back to normal flight-wise within a couple more days.

Their web site was down for most of yesterday but it's back up and working today.
