Just a quick trip report on the Westjet flights to LA. I flew down and back this week, no problems whatsoever. Well, tiny problems but nothing much.
The flights themselves were fine. They fly the 737-700 on that route. That's the ones with the grey leather seats, a little more pitch and a wee bit wider than the other planes.
No entertainment on the flights, so bring a book or something. They did go through the cabin with drinks and snacks twice though. And they have food items for sale ranging from $1-$5 (and I'd much rather pay $5 for their sandwich than $8 for the one on AC, or $10 for AC's fruit cup).
The flight there was about 1/2 full, the flight back was only maybe 1/3 full. So for heaven's sake people, book those flights!
Minor nits:
- We were being picked up in LA, and our ride had a difficult time finding what terminal Westjet was going in to. That's partly DFi's fault though, for not sending that information along to his parents (our ride).
- You can't use their automated kiosks to check in for transborder flights.
- Westjet's desk at the gate is a tiny little office desk. They have a regular checkin counter out front (this time easily identifiable by the Halloween decorations). But at the gate, if you're looking for one of those nice electronic signs with the flight information - well it just wasn't there.
