Flying Solo this week (this week! :earseek: ) and would appreciate any and all information.
  • Is the check-in counter well marked? I haven't been to terminal 2 before.
  • Do we go through customs at this end or at MCO? What about coming home?
  • Is there in-flight entertainment? Other than people watching, I mean?
  • What are the costs of the food? And was it good enough to eat?
  • What else do I need to know?

Thanks for your help. I like to know exactly what I am up against! lol

Hi Debbie,

I PM'd you the e-mail Westjet sent me with airport info before I left on my trip to Disney. I know the e-mail has only terminal info for Los Angeles and New York, but the rest of the info is the same for all their transborder flights.

Food on board was around $5 for a sandwich. I had the turkey croissant and it wasn't too bad. I think they also had pringles and twizzlers for sale. You will also get a light snack and pop during your flight. I think on my 5 hour flight between Calgary and Orlando, we got pop and a snack 3 times. They will also allow you to take your own meals on board which is nice.

You will clear customs both ways in Toronto which is also nice, because it means more time at disney, and less time at the Orlando airport. As well the signage was very good in the Calgary airport, so I imagine it will be in Toronto as well. In Orlando, check in is at the very end of side A's check in section. You'll see the signs posted there as well.

As for entertainment, I wish they had some on our long flight, as it was very boring. I know however they were planning on installing satallite TV's on the backs of the seats on some of their planes. They were hoping to have a bunch done by the end of the year, so hopefully you'll have entertainment on your flight.

Hope this helps,

My husband and I flew WestJet out of Pearson in December.

Is the check-in counter well marked? I haven't been to terminal 2 before.

I found it well marked. We didn't have any problems finding it, and they had separate lines for Orlando/Tampa flights and everyone else. These were also clearly marked.

Do we go through customs at this end or at MCO? What about coming home?

Going down, we had to clear customs in Florida, which was kind of annoying as that was not what I had been told. From what I've heard, most everyone else has cleared in Toronto. I guess we were an fluke. MCO customs is a hassle, but manageable. Coming back you clear in Toronto.

Is there in-flight entertainment? Other than people watching, I mean?

Not on our flight. The flight attendants told some jokes though. :)

What are the costs of the food? And was it good enough to eat?

We brought food on, so I don't know what their purchased stuff was like. They gave out free soda, coffee and tea though, as well as a package of 2 cookies or trail mix.

What else do I need to know?

When you check in to come back at MCO, the check-in area is waaaay down past the Southwest check-in, so get dropped off on the 'far' side of the terminal (as opposed to right when you come into the terminal drop off). Otherwise it's a bit of a hike. That's assuming you're not renting a car or whatever. The signage there isn't as good, but it's not hard to find.

Overall, I loved flying WestJet, and will definitely use them again. Have a great trip. :)

Hi,

I just flew WestJet from Toronto to Vancouver (well, Comox actually) but most people go "Comox?" I was really happy with my flight. My husband brought food but I thought the turkey/swiss sandwich on a croissant was good. $5.00 wasn't too much for it. For $5.00 they also had a roast beef sandwich and a chicken breast sandwich. Twizzlers, pepperoni and some other snack items for $2 or $3. We were offered soft drinks, juice coffee etc. often. I go hooked on the Harvest mix they pass out. We had individual TVs in the back of our seats. We connected in Calgary and had them on both planes so it wasn't that I was really on a long flight. It was split in half.

I will use WestJet for Florida now with no hesitations. When I heard about the Magical Express service lst week I wrote to WestJet to seee if they were considering adding it to their service to MCO and I got back an e-mail from a real person within ten minutes!

I'll paste it here...

Hi ******,

We appreciate your suggestion for WestJet to feature the Magical Express service. We are always looking at ways to improve the service the we provide and having said that. I will be forwarding your e-mail to our Marketing Department for their information.

Thank you for your continued support of WestJet, and we look forward to welcoming you aboard a future flight with us!

Sincerely,
