We are staying at Westgate Villas from 3/22-3/31 7 nights, 8 days. I have done a lot of research on this location and I have read both negative and positive reviews.

We are getting the 2 bb 2 bath condo for $330.00 for 7 nights and 8 days. We have friends who own a timeshare at this resort and they got us the really good deal however, we do have to sit through the salespitch. I am completely aware that it will more than likely take more than 90 mins and it will be high pressured. I have no problems with this knowing that I am going to save 800-900 dollars.

Do any of you have personal experiences with this resort? recommendations to make sure I do not have a bad experience?
Plus, we have a choice between the Villas and the Lakes. Which would you recommend? We are wanting to be closest to WDW.

Thank you,

I own at the Villas, bought a resale. Yes, they have very high pressure sales. No question about that. Westgate Lakes I think is closer to Disney. Right off I 4. The Villas are off 192, takes about 5 minutes to get the the Disney exit.

I know there have been a lot of negative things about the Villas. But I have not experienced anything really wrong. If I do have a problem with something, I call and maintenance takes care of it without questions. Other than the high sales push, I really enjoy the resort.

I just got back from staying 3 nights at Westgate Lakes. I don't know anything about the Villas. My parents got a 2 bedroom and a day cruise, another 2night stay at any other Westgate resort all for 4 nights for $198. They had to listen to the sales pitch this morning at 7:30 and I haven't heard from them since. This was our first stay offsite and we survived;) It took us 16 minutes to get there from the WL. It was nice to have lots of space after staying in a smaller room at the WL. The rooms were very nice. One had a king bed with a lounge chair. There was also a big jacuzzi tub in the room. The other room had 2 double beds and a bath that had a door to the main area. There was a large screen TV and you got HBO. It was very nice and clean and we had a view of the lake. They had a list of daily activites going on through out the day. There was a marketplace, a deli, a restaurant and Pizza Hut delivery. There are a handful of pool areas. They also have a shuttle within the resort. We used that to take us to the deli. The place is huge and it was packed. This morning when we left for the airport at 6:00 am cars were parked all over the place in all of the spaces and wherever they could find a spot that wasn't a marked space.

Having had such a horrid experience at WG Villas (I wouldn't stay there for FREE) I'd pick the Lakes.

We switched to the Lakes... Without a problem. I thought the price would have gone up but it didn't. They even let us book an additional night for 99 dollars... Thanks for all the advice. I hope to have one of the good experiences with them.

Does anyone know if it's true that the Lakes are much newer than the Villas?

We stayed at the Villas last May and had our good and bad experiences. For the price, its doable. We got a 2 BR villa through RCI and paid somewhere between $200 and $300. I dont recall exactly. The onsite activities were very good. The ammenities were good, too. But, there were definite maintenance and staffing issues. The sales pitch is hard and heavy. Our guy lied through his teeth and lied some more when I was able to identify his "inaccuracies". But, for the price, it was worth it. We spend most of our time at WDW anyways.

I have heard mostly good things about Westgate Lakes. If you can get a ressie there, I'd take that route. For more detailed info, check out Timeshare Users Group (TUG) .

Regardless, enjoy your vacation!!!

We just switched to the Lakes!! I am happy that we did. Apparently it was very easy and they were extremely helpful. I am sure it's because they are trying to sell us on their resort... We even got an extra night for 99 dollars... So that makes 9 nights for 430 dollars... Not bad... Our salespitch isn't until our last day so I hope they have to treat us well if they want us to buy... But I guess that isn't always the case..
