We are planning a trip to Orlando 1st week of August but haven't made up our minds where we'd like to stay. Our only main preference is enough room for 6 & w/kitchen...

So, today I get a telemarketing call from Westgate Villas .....Long story short, they are trying to arrange a 6 night stay in a two bedroom for 420.00. I just have to go to a 90-minute presentation.

Is this worth the hassle of the presentation? It literally comes out to be like 75/day w/taxes I figure.

Thanks for your input.

That's a great rate....

...but man, they're scary:scared: :scared: :scared:

I'd go for it, but DH wouldn't:teeth:

We sat through one of their presentations a few years ago...it can get a little intense, and I wouldn't say it's enjoyable;)
As DH says, he can think of better ways to spend a morning - but we learned lots! :rotfl:

I'll pop you downstairs for some more info, though!:)

:sunny:

I dont think that is such a great rate for a one bedroom there...I think you could do better and then maybe it would be worth the tour which is pretty brutal

That's actually for a 2 bedroom villa.

What happens during one of the tours?

They are pressure packed to the nth degree. But the rate is good for a two bedroom and if you can take the heat and still say NO it can be a value.

Note: Even if you LOVED the place and wanted to buy DO NOT buy from them directly. You can get any Westgate resort for less than 1/3 of what they will offer - even the lowest offer - on resale if you really, really wanted to own there.

Go in with a good attitude, don't eat (that time doesn't count), tell them from the start you have an appointment in 2 hours so if it gets to be 95 minutes past say "we must get going". Remember, say NO to any offer. Any offer.

They are nice resorts and if you can get a deep discount for 90+ minutes of your time why not play the game. But always, always say NO. If there is any chance you'll give in under pressure don't do it.

Thank you. Truthfully, we are not in the market to buy anything at this point. They actually approached me with a telemarketing call which I almost politely ended the call but when they said "Orlando", I began talking.

The great thing about this is that they said that I can make my appointment as early as 8am. My excuse is that I will be leaving my kids in the room while we're at the meeting. (of course, my 2 oldest are 16 & 15 and my two youngest are 12 & 9) but they don't need to know their ages. So that will be my easy out on the 91st minute.

Thanks for your input. This was the best deal thus far of all options I have come across with my criteria which is basically, room for 6 people with kitchen...

Thanks again.

We frequently rent 2BR Marriott villas for under $100 a night, and no nightmare Westgate experience to go through...

That's great for Marriott - I tried them via their website & was getting quotes for 230/night Aug. 1 - 6

We did one through Marriott horizons which is wonderful if you have kids! 199.00 for 5 days but you could add on extra days at a discounted rate:goodvibes . It was very low key but as other posts said never buy directly from them. If you want any more info or pics of horizons let me know.

You can get a 2br at Cypress Pointe for $99/day + tax thru www.hotelkingdom.com with no ts pitch to attend. Awesome location in LBV, only 1/2 mile to DTD!

Also CP is rated Gold Crown with RCI (the co. we trade ts thru) whereas Westgate properties have no rating at all (other ratings could be Silver Crown or the Hospitality Award. We are ts owners at another resort, not at CP, but I would gladly trade to stay there.)

CP was just completely remodeled and the photos look awesome. Big screen TV! www.cypresspointe.net

We've done 2 vacations (10 yrs. ago, 1 was CP) having to look at ts properties and these days my vac. time is just too valuable to spend looking at something I don't want to buy.

I'd say spend a little more and enjoy your vacation!!!:thumbsup2

No. No no no no no. Nothing is worth going through a westgate sales pitch. The units are lovely, but no. no no no.

A windsor hills 2BR condo rental might get pretty close to that rate.

You can get it on Skyauction sometimes for cheaper and no sales pitch.
