My family will be staying at this timeshare in a few weeks. I know it gets lots of negative feedback here, but I think a lot of that is a reflection of the timeshare selling not the resort. One of my guide books says the resort is really nice and ranks it high. We traded a "bonus" week for this so it was almost free.

I would like to hear about the resort- Which building is best for a family with a three kids? Good places to eat? How do I get to Disney from there? Anything else I need to know?

Thanks for you help!

I don't know too much about the villas, but I did stay at the westgate palace right off of international drive. It was great. (except for the party next door one night). The rooms were beautiful, it only had a pool but we could of went to any of the other westgate places to use any of those facilities. but chose not to. They do try very hard to sell the timeshare, just don't answer the phone. Which one are you staying at?

We own at Westgate Villa's and really do love it.
The lake area is beautiful and you can use the paddle boats for free.
There are a lot of pools, so the pools don't get overcrowded.
We went to the free dinner one night and they had like an italian buffet, and music and animals. That was fun. You can ride bikes for free. We tye dyed shirts for $5.00 a piece.
We love the buildings we own in because they are not just two bedrooms, but two bedrooms with a loft. It makes the place look so big. When the kids were younger they got such a kick out of being in the loft, they used to pretend it was their apartment. Some of the loft units are located in QQQ and I think JJJ. I forget because we have not stayed there in a long time. I would put a request in for a loft unit now if you are interested, it doesn't hur to ask and if there is one available then you will love it.
There are basketball courts there and a room where you can check out boardgames. We really do love it a lot. Hope you do too.

We've traded in there before and it was very nice; we're going back there this August for 8 more days. We had a ground floor, pretty close to a pool. We always get a car when were off site, and driving to the parks were only 10 minutes or so, very easy. We had a "regular" 2 bedroom, rather than the "loft" which we haven't seen, but I gues you can get another 2 people in there. The rooms were great, the kitchens had everything, full size washer/dryers, oven, fridge, etc.

Any advise on which building to ask for? Our paper work just says a 2 bedroom at the Villas so I'm not sure if it is with a loft or not.

I have read about a shortcut from this resort to Disney. Can anyone tell me where it is? We will drive our own car down and are not familiar with the area roads at all. It has been 5 years since we were there last.

Thanks

a lot depends upon the Exchange company that is used....

RCI exchangers seem to get the short "end" of any exchanges....and perhaps they are the bulk of the "negative" comments since they are usually placed in condos that were part of the "first" phases

the shortcut would be using Sherbeth Road which then comes into Disney near Animal Kingdom ....

We're exchanging through II. They have always had very nice trades for us in the past and say to call their membership service number if you have any problems with room quality.
