Westgate Resort

Has anyone ever stayed at Westgate Resorts in Orlando? If so, what did you think? Pros vs cons?

We stayed in a 2 bedroom at Westgate Town Center over Spring Break 2007. We really enjoyed the resort. Nice condo, well maintained, easy to find, parking was great, near restaurants and a grocery store. About 30 minutes from parking lot to entrance gate of MK (driving to MK lot, parking, tram, monorail to entry gate). Have heard that the timeshare sales staff there is relentless trying to get you to a timeshare meeting but we were already timeshare owners at another resort and no one ever bothered us. But we did take the advice from some Dis board members who suggested we unplug our phones in the room as soon as we got there as they've been known to call very late at night to try to schedule your "resort tour". Pool areas were nice and clean. Had lots of activites but all we did was Disney so I don't have any info on that. Would stay there again.

Which Westgate Resort are you thinking of?

We own at Westgate Lakes and have never had a problem with the selling part of it. We bought resale and have never faced the "sale tactics".

We did an exchange at a westgate and the sales tactics were truly relentless. They disguised their meeting as a welcome breakfast. Not knowing what we were in for we headed down and were going to let the guys catch up. They wouldn't let us into the breakfast. They then called us to tell us about a free get aquatinted Bar B. Que. We said we would come but really didn't feel obligated to show up. We got busy doing something else. We got a nasty phone call the next morning. We were so naive, we didn't think they would be trying to sell us a timeshare when they knew we already owned one.
