We were on the seven day Western cruise back in May and loved the color of the water (Example photos in the link below "Water Photos").

Question: How does the water in the Eastern seven day cruise compare to the Western cruise?

Is the water prettier, warmer, rougher, etc.?

Which cruise do you prefer for scenery?

those pics are amazing! Beautiful and really made me wish I was there right now. Sorry, I do not have an answer but we are going on our 1st cruise and I had to say how much I love them!

The water is just as beautiful on the Eastern as on the Western IMO. Also, the ports are much more beautiful on the Eastern around the port.

One thing to keep in mind is that the Western is entirely in the (relatively protected) Caribbean Sea. On the Eastern, the ship cruises the (relatively rougher) Atlantic Ocean as it heads down (and back) to the St. Thomas area.

OP - Can I ask what beach you were at on GC?
I'm still trying to figure out where we want to go. Thanks.

Wow...your photos are just incredible. You are very talented...and have an amazing camera I would guess too! Don't know about Eastern vs Western as I have never cruised western. But the eastern ports were very pretty with very pretty water also. We did the eastern with Tortola...so can't comment on the other eastern ports. I just really wanted to tell you how gorgeous your photos are!

Thanks for all of the info so far. I think that we would like to go on the Eastern just for something new.

The photos are the ones that my son took. There are some more in the link below.

Also feel free to look around at his other photos.

We did the tour with Native Way Watersports. They were great. We did the "Rays, Reef, and Rum Point". We went to Rum Point beach. It is small. The tour with Native Way includes a meal at Rum Point. Rum Point is what you think of when you first think of island paridise.

All of the beach photos in the post above are from Rum Point.

Any other questions just let me know.

Do you know what kind of camera he has?? They are just so beautiful!

He has a Rebel XTi, and my lenses, grrrrrrr. Actually the lenses are probably more important than the camera, and can cost more.

Software: he uses Adobe LightRoom most of the time and always shoots in RAW mode.

He has a very good eye for composition.

I prefer the Eastern. I think the mountains on the islands make the Eastern cruise much more scenic.

That is what I was kind of thinking also.

How about the two days at sea? Is that good or bad?

I loved the 2 days at sea on the eastern...but I loved being on the ship. I guess it is all just peronal preference. Some look at the ship as a means of getting to the ports while others may look at being on the ship differently. I enjoyed the 2 full days at sea before we hit any of the ports...very relaxing!

I really thought that I wouldn't like two days at sea but I ended up LOVING it! It gave me time to completely unwind and relax.

I haven't been on the Eastern but just wanted to say that I agree about the water color on the Western cruise. The color just took my breath away...it was like nothing I had ever seen!:thumbsup2

What about the water temperature of the Eastern-vs-Western cruise. We may be going next March-April. Is one warmer than the other?

We were able to swim in St. Maarten and CC (didn't go to the beach on St. Thomas) when we went in January. It was chilly but then again we swim in Massachusetts in the summer so we may be a bit numb. :rotfl2:
