Western info to share, Just sailed,,,

Disneycruiser, Do you mind giving me an idea of about how much the electric cars are in Key West. I don't have any excursions planned & the electric cars were one thing I was thinking of doing. Also, how many people can be in one car? TIA Kathy :wave2:

The cars I saw held 4 people,,,, went about 20 mph

I saw one 6 people car but I think that was a shuttle car for the Hilton.......

I have a question about the excursion in Stingray City. How do you know which one is the shallow Stingray experience and which one is the 15' experience?

I would like to take my three sons and really think the shallow would be better even with the stinging aspect.

Also, did you do the snorkeling after at Coral Gardens and how deep was it?

I'm skipping the Cozumel excusion upon your combined advice. Thank you for veering us away from that trip! I would have been very overloaded had I attempted that with 3 young sons, even if they are over 5.

Wow,,,, Wish I could help you out,,,,,, I did not know there were 15 foot Stingray Experiences,,,,, The trip we took was the combination of the turtle farm, Hell,(not a big deal), and the Stingrays,,,,, I booked this because the other, cheeper one was booked up..... I would think that with young kids the shallow would be better too. It was nice not having to worry about my 11 year old...
We did not snorkle at Coral Gardens,,,,,, Castway Cay has good snorkling,,,,, but you really have to go out really far from shore to see a lot of fish, and the water is deep,,, Disney has things to look at under the water,,, they have buoys over them,,,, A B C etc....

Pershing - The "Stingray City Snorkel Tour" that leaves at 7:30 and 1:00 only goes to the Stingray Sandbar (shallow). It appears the "Island Tour and Snorkelling" now goes to the Sandbar as well, although when we went in March, it went to the 15' deep site.

The Disney excursion only goes to the sandbar, not to Coral Gardens. We were booked on the Disney morning tour and were all gathered and had our briefing talk when it was cancelled due to "rough water". Disney tends to err on the side of caution for excursions and cancels quickly.

However, from reading these boards we headed ashore and looked for either Captain Marvin's or Nativeway Sports. We found the Nativeway Rep, and he was able to get us on the 9:45 tour. It turned out to be fabulous, with a great boat, lots of space, and the added stop at Coral Gardens. (Oh yeah, it also saved us $30!!!) Their website is www.nativewaywatersports.com if you'd like to check it out! PM me if you have any other questions.

Thank you Mississaugamom!

I believe I read your trip report too. I've read as many as I could, and are still reading. All the details are great! My middle DS has Autism and anything I can do to prep him before helps a great deal.

I don't know if he'll even get out of the boat at Stingray City, but he's surprised so many people in the past with what he's done given the opportunity.

So the 9:45 from Nativeway was not the Sandbar, but the deep area? And how manageable would you say Coral Gardens is for kids snorkeling? My kids have their own snorkel gear but not sure I want to drag it all the way there.

Thanks again for the email addy!

Pershing - sorry if I confused you. The 9:45 with Nativeway WAS to the Sandbar. The Disney Island Tour and Snorkelling which they offered us instead was to the deep site. (Disney was also not sure whether that tour would go at all!) They cancelled both the morning and afternoon snorkelling at Stingray City at 7:45 in the morning!

Our DD was 7, so we definitely wanted the sandbar. There was no problem for kids snorkelling at Coral Gardens. Nativeway had lots of equipment available if you don't want to drag along your own. We compromised - took our own masks and snorkels but used their fins. It worked out great for everyone!

Good luck with your planning.
