Keep seeing that everyone refers to the advanced booking of excursions. This is our 2nd Disney Cruise, this time to the Western. I don't believe when we went Eastern they had advance reservations. We are cruising mid january so it sounds like we can book mid November. Couple of questions, can you book in advance only if you book through DCL? I booked 4 of us using DVC points and my parents with DU. Is there a phone number, web site, etc. to do this?

Looks like Stingray City is the thing to do Grand Cayman either through DCL or Captain Marvins

Cozumel - Not sure. Anyone have suggestions? WOuld like to maybe tour some ruins or something "educational".

Travelling with 9 and 13 year old, and alos my parents who are in the mid 70's. They are not in the best of health but can get around, albeit slowly. Anyone travel with older (if I called them elderly, they'd kill me) parents and have suggestions on excursions?

Thanks for your help and suggestions!

Once you are paid in full you will get information on the excursions including the phone number to call. I believe you can only make reservations 60 days in advance.

Hope this helps.

From the Disney Cruise web site:

Shore Excursion Request

Three easy ways to reserve your shore excursions:
Call the Special Services Desk at (877) 566-0968†.
E-mail your shore excursion requests along with your name and reservation number to dcl.shore.excursions@disneycruise.com*
Click here to download and print a PDF of the Shore Excursion Request Form. Then fill out the form completely and fax to (407) 566-7031† .

Shore excursions can be made within 60 days prior to sailing. Some excursions have capacity limits so be sure to make your request early. Reservations are taken on a first come first served basis. You can alter your shore excursion requests anytime up to two (2) days prior to sailing. You should note that after that time, no new excursion reservations can be made and all existing shore excursion reservations are considered final and unfortunately cannot be changed or refunded. Of course if you decide not to pre-reserve shore excursions prior to your cruise, you can still stop by the ship's Shore Excursion Desk, located on Deck 3, on embarkation day, to check availability and purchase excursions. But remember, some excursions may already be full and therefore unavailable.

When your shore excursion is pre-reserved, you will receive excursion tickets delivered to your stateroom on embarkation day. Payment for confirmed excursions is conveniently billed directly to your shipboard account. We unfortunately will not be able to accept payment in advance.

*We are unable to accept attachments with email requests. Please provide the required detail from the Excursion Request Form into a text email.

† If you are not 18 years of age or older, you must have your parent or guardian's permission to dial this number.

I am also going on the Western in January. I have already booked my excursions in advance using outside companies. I decided to do this when I did the Disney Excursions on the 4 day that I went on in the past. You have much more freedom and get a much better price. I wish I knew then what I know now! I booked the Dolphin Swim at Cozumel through www.shoretrips.com - it may be full by now. Disney does not offer the actual swim - just an encounter. I am doing Captain Marvins in Grand Cayman - I think it was www.captainmarvins.com for their website. We are also going to go to the turtle farm on our own www.caymanturtlefarm.com. You might also want to look at www.grandcaymancruiseexcursions.com. Good luck - hope this helps!!

We did a FANTASTIC trip in Cozumel. I posted a thread about it. I will bump it up so you can see it.

Hi - Just got back from the 10/11 Magic Western. We went with my daughter, her husband, two grandchildren 8 and 11 and granddaughter's friend also 11. My husband and I are both 69 and we both enjoyed Captain Marvin's excursion to Stingray City where we did indeed get in with the stingrays. What a fantastic experience. My husband and I did not do the snorkeling part of the excursion but enjoyed watching the rest of the family. In Cozumel we did the Tulum excursion through DCL which we also enjoyed. We did not find it hard to do and there are plenty of shady spots at the ruins. There is also a beautiful beach where we went swimming. I would highly recommend both excursions. Have fun!!!

Great info everyone...thanks! If there are any other suggestions, please keep it coming!
