Western--Dolphin Swim

Are there any other opportunities to go swimming with the dolphins other than the one DCL promotes in Cozumel? My Disney nephew, who will be 10 when we go, really wants to do this and I am have having trouble finding other tours.

Kinda glad my chidren, who will be DD6 and DS5, do not care because it seems to be very expensive for a family of four. Is it worth it?

We are sailing 1/17/04(just 15 hours to go) and on Wednesday I e-mailed a company about the dolphin swim www.dolphindiscovery.com and they had an opening for us available. I think the price is 119.00 per person. Some of the other excursion are dolphin encounters where you just wade into the water with them. This excursion says that you interact with them,(they push you through the water and allow you to hold their fins as they pull you too) For the money I'd rather have the whole experience. This is not a DCL excursion.

I agree, the extra money would be worth it (well, in this case it would be my brother's money). I am sure my nephew would rather "swim" than "encounter". I will look at that website right now. Thanks again.

We just went on the 1-3-04 and my DS10 loved the Dolphin Swim at Chankanaab in Cozumel that we booked through shore trips.com. You can read my trip report by going into the trip report area. I describe the swim, etc... It was well worth it!

Dolphin Discovery is at Chakanaab and the same people that disney uses for the Dolphin encounter. You can book the swim directly with them, when we got our encounter video, at the end was the reminents of a tape no one bought and it was all the dolphin swim. There is a website for Chakanaab and probably Discovery. I know it was posted on the Cozumel thread a little while back. We loved Chakanaab. If you book on your own, then the ones not interested in the swim only have to pay the entrance fee and they can do other things like the beach, sea lion show, etc.

We did the dolphin swim on our own in Cozumel. It was incredible and well worth the 119 per person plus the 10 bucks for park admission. Definately one of the highlights of our cruise.

The video cost like 40 bucks? And the pictures were pricey at about maybe 14? a piece, but hard to turn down

Small group of people (less than eight) and plenty of time with the dolphins, really cant say enough good things about the dolphin swim.

My DDs are definately up for this outing. I have one question that maybe someone can answer. (I also have an e-mail in to the Experience of a Lifetime people too, but I am impatient )

My younger daughter is 11; will I have to purchase the encounter for me too? It says in the "important info window that kids 8-11 have to be accompanied by a paying adult. I wonder if the 11 is inclusive or up to age 11. I really dont want to do this, but of course if I have to be there for her I will.

Hi everyone,
Thought I would add a little post script to my last post. I visited the Experience of a Lifetime site, and on the bottom of the screne describing the swim adventures there was a "chat" icon. I hit it, and was able to talk directly with a representative names Abigail. It was great to get the answers so quickly! Anyway, it's 8-11 inclusive; you can't go on your own until you are 12, and teenage siblings cannot supervise as the responsible adult unless they are over 18.
