Is there a thread for western Caribbean excursions reviews. If not let's start one. I searched and didn't come up with much.
We are going to
Cozumel
Grand Cayman
Falmouth
Castaway

Sorry for my horrible spelling.

I have no idea if there is a thread. That being said, LOVED the sea turtle farm on Grand Cayman. Guided tour and get to hold sea turtles. Then we could go over and snorkel in a lagoon (man-made) with sea turtles. It also included a decent lunch. :)

There is one and it is long. Not sure how to tell you how to find it.

Good to hear, we have this booked.

We're going on this same itinerary, it's our first Disney cruise:) We are going with my parents and another couple with an infant.

Last year DH and I went to Cozumel and stayed in a resort. We went to Chankanaab Park and loved it! I told my kids and they want to go there, too

So, for our cruise, here are our plans thus far....

Cozumel: Men will do the Discover Scuba excursion
The moms and the kids will do the Dolphin Discovery (and Observer) at Chankanaab-as my older son really wants to swim with dolphins- then we can snorkel, swim- pool or ocean, sea lion show, etc after

For Falmouth: The Jungle River Tubing Safari- my friend and I and the 2 little ones will stay on the ship for this one as you must be 6 to go.

For Grand Cayman: We plan to taxi to a beach and spend the day there. I have read that you rent chairs and umbrellas at all of the beaches.

We are SO excited!!!! Can't wait!

:cheer2:

We did the Western on the Fantasy in December so Costa Maya instead of Falmouth. Did Falmouth with another cruiseline. LOVED the Western itinerary!

We've done the following:

Falmouth: Excellent walking tour - http://www.falmouthheritagewalks.com/ and amazing jerk chicken and cold Red Strip beer at Club Nazz

Cozumel: taxi to Paradise Beach - great pool, nice beach

Grand Cayman: got a taxi at the dock and went to the Turtle Farm and 7 Mile Beach

Costa Maya: Fantastic tour of the ruins with Native Choice

Just off the Fantasy in January. We did the Sea Trek Helmet Dive in Grand Cayman it was so AWESOME. You meet at the pier it was a short walk to the location. We went over all safety procedures and paperwork. If there were any concerns the guys answered any questions that you may have. We then took a tender boat to the dive site and transferred to a larger boat where you were able to store your belongings. On the way over they driver goes over the safety instructions again. Once you are ready everyone goes down one at a time. Once the entire group is down they guys will start the adventure. On the way down there is a diver with you every step of the way until you reach the bottom. There is a guide, a diver with scuba gear, another diver on an air line and another up top watching the air compressor. When I get a moment I will upload a few pictures and a portion of the almost 30 minute video I took. You are about 30' under the ocean. So if your using your own underwater camera make sure it goes to at least 33'. They have I believe disposable cameras for sale and you can rent a go pro camera from them but I don't remember the pricing. If you go down and feel uneasy you can give the signal and they will have you up in no time flat. If you want to give it another go and the time hasn't expired they'll bring you back down. I'll say that all the guys were extremely nice and helpful and made everything fun. If you decide to do it try and leave a tip for them, it doesn't have to be a lot but a little goes a long way. Any other questions let me know and I will do my best to answer them.

Late to the party, but did the Sea Trek excursion mess with your ears at all?

We went on the western in August last year. In Cozumel we did a private taxi out to Nachi Cocom and had a wonderful day there. On Grand Cayman we did the Shipwreck Snuba adventure. That was my kids favorite! In Jamaica we did the Tranopy adventure (Ziplining, bobsled, cable cars). That one was fun, but it was really hot out and was a very long day. On Castaway Cay we got a Cabana on the family beach, and we also did the jetski tour around the island. That day was amazing!

this is our itinerary as well - we have done it before - aside from Falmouth. We did stingray city - that was awesome!

We're thinking of booking the Tranopy adventure in Jamaica and this will be our first time ziplining. Looks like it's about a 6 hr adventure. How much time is spent ziplining? Appreciate any info. Thanks!

I can't recommend this excursion highly enough! We LOVED it. We zip lined for probably 45-60 minutes, there were 5 or 6 lines plus a vertical drop that was fun.

It took about 60 minutes to get from ship to Mystic Mountain. We then took chairlift to top of mountain, got suited up for zip lines and waited for about 15 minutes to do the lines. The lines take you about halfway down the mountain where you get back on the chairlift. From there you have to go all the way down to the bottom and then go back up.

Once we got to the top we got in line for the bobsleds. There were 2 lines for the sleds, the line on the right is for people doing sleds only, the line on the left is for tranopy people. There is no signage for this, I luckily heard a worker mention this to someone else. Make sure you go in the left line because it's essentially a fast pass line.

After the sleds we had about an hour for lunch and to shop. The chicken was awesome, the sauce for it is really hot so I suggest putting on the side. We live in AZ and eat very spicy food all the time and this stuff has a KICK, but wow it was great stuff.

They had dancers up at the top doing a show and everyone was so nice. They even sent someone down to the forest floor under the sleds to find my daughters iPhone after it fell out of the sled. The sleds are fast and jerky so make sure all your items are very secure!

We had an amazing day and would do it again in a heartbeat. The only thing we didn't like was the family we were with on the mini bus didn't pay attention to the time and were about 60 minutes late getting back on the bus so we sat for an hour waiting for them. But we didn't let that sour the experience for us.

Enjoy your excursion!

Thanks for the feedback. Planning to book this excursion!

We visited Grand Cayman on Dec 20th and did the Rum Point port adventure. It was $59 per adult and $49 per child and we thought it was well worth it. We took a 1 min bus ride to the catamaran dock and then had a 45 min catamaran ride to Rum Point. They had a sectioned off beach area for DCL guests but said we could sit anywhere on the property. It was a very windy day so the water wasn't very clear but it was really quiet with lots of trees around. It was less crowded and more serene than Seven Mile beach but the water wasn't as clear. Lunch was included (salad, jerk chicken, fish, Mac and cheese with hot dogs, beans and rice). The drinks at the bar were pricey ($20 USD for a beer and a mudslide).
The catamaran ride back was great. The captain used the sails which was cool to watch and made for a fun trip back.
