We booked a Western Caribbean for 2017 and I have a few questions.

1. When getting off the ship in Cozumel, Grand Cayman, & Falmouth will we need our passports or just ID and Key Card to get back on?

2. Can I use US cash in port in Cozumel, Grand Cayman, & Falmouth?

3. Just wanted to confirm that Disney will give towels when getting off the ship.

TIA

1. For debarkation/embarkation you'll need everyone's KTTW card and a government issued photo ID for those 18 and over.
2. Generally, yes. But the exchange won't be great. And any change will be in local currency.
3. Yes, you can pick up towels. There's usually a bin near where you exit the ship.

Would it be better to use a credit card while in port?

A credit card (with no foreign transaction fees) for larger purchases is probably a good idea. For smaller purchases (under, say $20), cash might be best. You can get small bills at Guest Services before leaving the ship.

We found in Cozumel and Grand Cayman that things priced on the Port Adventures (e.g. photos, souvenirs at the dolphin encounter, etc.) were all priced in USD.

We didn't try local shops though, so no idea how they work.

In Cozumel things were priced in USD and we even ventured off the beaten path to eat in restaurants in the surrounding neighborhoods and they had things priced in USD and gave us change in the same way as well.

I've made quite a few purchases in GC in US and received USD back (I've received CI too) - even from a public bus driver.

I carried my passports with me in Cozumel and Grand Cayman. Although not required, this was for peace of mind in case of some sort of emergency. I had no trouble using US currency in these two ports and did not get cheated on exchange rates.

My family and I are on the Western Cruise out of Galveston Dec 2 '16. We are stopping at Cozumel, Falmouth and San Juan. I have cruised to Cozumel in the past. What we did was have a local taxi driver (there are tons) take us to a near by resort to snorkel, lay at the beach and pool for $20 bucks a head. This was an excellent way to do this, but beware and tell the driver you need to back way before your departure time to buy you a few hours in case he doesn't show up and you need to get another driver.
