Western Caribbean April 30, 2011?

Hi all!

Welcome to those that just joined the thread! Looking forward to meeting everyone via green ribbons - great idea!

I see a lot of you are second seating but with a two year old, we are doing first dinner seating.

The good news is that we saw the Easter bunny at the mall yesterday and DS was not terrified - that's gives me hope for when he sees mickey mouse :)

How's everyone's packing going?

We have first seating as well - so you won't be completely alone! ;) There are also a few more people who are on here that have it (: Glad to hear that your DS is fairing well with the characters! :thumbsup2 I still don't have much packed, but my sister (disfreak24), has most of her stuff ready to go haha.. either way, I'm getting very excited!!! :cool1: It's only 25 days.. well, pretty much 24!:banana::banana:

Tritao-glad to hear meeting the Easter Bunny went well! Packing- as usual going all to well. Think I need to thin it out some. We were hoping to do carry on only. I think if we don't take DH's suit jacket we can pull it off. As well because we are not going all out for Pirate night.

Soooo, we were thrown a curve ball......

1yo fell and broke his leg!! :sad1:

They put him in a splint at the ER, but we have to go see a pediatric orthopedist. Unfortunately, they don't have an opening until Thurs. Ugh!

I don't know how this will work on the cruise- not sure how long he will be in a cast. I guess we will find out tomorrow....

Ouch! If it provides you some comfort, my daughter did the same thing when she was almost two -- fell at daycare and fractured her leg. The doctor said the fracture wasn't severe enough and her bones were growing too fast for a plaster cast so she wore a removable air-cast, then a splint, for six weeks. The incident never stopped her from being a typical exploratory one-year old though, and she enjoyed everything she normally would.

Here's to hoping that that is the worst your son will experience, and that everything will go about as normal. Keep us posted!

Deb, oh no! I hope its nothing serious. Hopefully he can heal quickly and be ready to go for the cruise...keep us posted!

Aww, poor thing! I hope he starts feeling better soon! :goodvibes That can't be fun for anyone, let alone a 1 year old! :(

Thanks to everyone for the kind words & encouragement!

The little one got his cast on yesterday. It is supposed to be a walking cast, but I'm not so sure he will be able to walk on it. It has a boot that goes over it for stability, but that makes it much higher than any of his shoes that go on his other foot - DH thinks it's very Herman Munster like. :lmao: So it makes him walk a little wonky - he's not terribly happy about it!

The good news in all of this is that the cast will come off the day we leave for the port! :yay: I was really concerned about how that would all work out.

Ok, now back to the packing......

Hi Debbie, glad to hear it will work out! Poor little guy. Glad you will still be sailing with us!pirate:

Debbie - glad things went good at the dr and the cast will be off prior to the cruise! Woo Hoo!

For those with the first dinner seating - we are doing that one two b/c of the kids being so young still. Most times my son is out for the night at like 8 and if he doesn't get a nap in the afternoon which most days he won't on the cruise, he'll probably be out earlier than that!

Anyone doing the trolley in Key West? I found that if you book the Old Town Trolley through their site - kids under 12 are free until the end of May and it's cheaper. Same thing with a ticket to Hemingway House - it's one dollar cheaper than if you buy there. I'm trying to save any way I can and hope we don't skip Key West due to weather or any other situation. If we did, I think my husband would die b/c I won't pay the prices for beer on board so he's buying all his beer for the week in Key West and carrying it back on since Disney will allow that. That will save us a bundle.

On another note - the packing....the packing...I haven't started! I'm still getting things that we are going to need to pack. I went to Target yesterday and spent way to much!! Between essentials, getting all the kids summer clothes earlier than I normally do and in one trip (my poor checking account) and I had to have a completely new wardrobe as well since I've lost 188 pounds :cool1: since last April - I'm about broke! ha ha I was reading today that I should have gotten a new passport photo but no time now - I'm going to get a new DL picture so hopefully that will help since I really don't look like my passport photo anymore.

Hope everyone is getting ready to go! Woo Hoo - three weeks from tonight we'll be in PC getting ready to board the next day. Can't wait!!!!

188 pounds! Wow! Good for you! :cheer2:

I've been on a diet and lost 26 pounds, and have LOTS more to lose - you are my new inspiration! :) I am planning to not overdo it on the cruise...hope that works, cuz this has been tough so far & I don't want to pack on the pounds I've already lost....

We will be in PC on Friday to see the shuttle launch. Even though we live in FLorida, we have NEVER seen a shuttle launch. Now that the program is coming to an end, we thought we should try. Anyone else coming over early?

A question - we are spending the night of the 29th at CI&S. Can anyone recommend any good restaurants in the area for dinner? We especially like seafood. Thanks

PS - 3 weeks to go!!!

Whoa - I didn't realize that. So DCL doesn't care if you bring beer on board? Every other cruise line we've been on threw a hissy fit if you did this. I will have to stock up before boarding.

It has to be in your carry on but yep, you can bring beer, wine, liquor, etc. I'm not much of a drinker but because I'm missing my commencement ceremony while on this cruise, I'm celebrating! (and bringing along a girlie drink or two!)
