As for the 7 year old on the stingray excursion I would say you know your child. I'm sure some would. Keep in mind that the water is shallow but still substantial. I'm 5'7" and it came about mid torso on me. Also there is enough current action even on a calm day that I was using my 6'3" linebacker son as an anchor until I really became sure of myself and the waves - it could knock you off your feet. And the sensation of the rays takes a little getting used to. Deb
Most excellent advise on both the riding and Stingray City! You just can't expect a child to stand neck deep in water and enjoy himself! That's why we cancelled our excursion there and the Swim with the Dolphins - it may have been great for me and DH, but this is a FAMILY vacation and DS certainly wouldn't have enjoyed either of those water activities as a "short non-swimmer" regardless of what he was wearing or who was holding onto him!!!!!
Now put him on a horse and Deb, as you know - both our kids would out do us!!!!! But again, they are the exceptions to the rule.
