I am back in the hospital visit routine, but not as rigorous as before. Manuel is doing much better, the trach is out, he can talk, and his wound is healing. Not up on his feet yet, but won't be long. Still lots of rehab to do though.

Dad is calling me at least 10 times a day. I still take him dinner daily (Amy did it for a couple of days for me) and I have started remodeling the house for them (I hired the contractor and am overseeing) to move the laundry upstairs and make a first floor bathroom with shower. Lots going on.

Yeah Kaylee, you snuck by us . . .

Work front is worse than before I left. I will not go into any great detail, let's just say almost all my spare internet time has been spent working on, and sending out my resume.

I miss so many of you guys, and have wonderful memories. Many of you I wish I could have had more time to talk to. How I wish I could start it all over again. Well, almost all of it! :)

Good night!

John...the woman I rode in the elevator with....her reaction was priceless...I think seeing all of you made her day! I would have loved to have seen the routine, but the pics with the commentary makes it like I was there!!! :goodvibes

Sounds like things are going better, Manuel is one strong man!

Should I include some of those photos with my resume?

When I visited the hospital today, one of the nurses said, "So you are the famous brother from the pictures?" (I had emailed a couple of the pictures Kim took to a friend of Manuel's to cheer him up).

My fame precedes me . . .

Oh, those pics would make a perfect accent to any resume! :thumbsup2 And were the pics from your now famous ballet routine?!

John:

My thoughts continue to be with you for healing for your brother and good job karma for you. Hang tough.

To lighten the mood...

anyone see who hosted Celebrity Circus on NBC tonight?????

Here is a picture with Molly & I with our dear friend....Joey

sure....sure....sure...rub it in!!!!! :goodvibes (great pic by the way!) I never realized how often Fresh Prince was on tv until I got home...everytime I turn on the tv (which is usually late at night) I seem to see Alphonso!

If this is for an animated gif, you need to use an application for viewing it that can handle that, otherwise, you will get the series of photos or "frames."
To view an animated gif you need to open it using either Safari or Firefox.

Thanks, Ian; I can view them with QuickTime and after I posted my questions last night I did some searching and found out that I can use QT to convert gifs into .mov files so that really was the solution I needed.

What's the name of the app? I could really use that.

I use Easy WMV on my iMac. I had to pay $15 for it. But last night I was working on my laptop and I found one called iSquint that was free. I downloaded it and it worked fine.

Speaking of cool apps, do you know about Handbrake? It's free.:thumbsup2 You can use it to rip DVDs and make them smaller for your iPod. You can also keep them the same size. I just used it to copy a DVD a friend bought after a helicopter tour in Hawaii so she could share it with another friend. After I ripped it, I imported it into iDVD and was able to make her 3 copies.

Today I lost my cell phone! It totally threw off my day!:faint: It's so strange. I used it to make a couple of calls as I was driving into town to get my nails done. I parked, locked my car, went into the salon, got my nails done and then looked for my phone. It wasn't in my purse so I figured I just left it in the car. When I got out to the car it wasn't there. My nail tech called my cell # and the voice mail picked up right away, which is what it does when it's turned off! But I hadn't turned it off and it was fully charged. We looked everywhere, dumped out my purse 3 times, etc. but it was not to be found. All I can think is that it fell out in the parking lot and someone took it. But this is a small salon in a very small, quiet strip mall and there were maybe 2 other cars in the parking lot. I parked about 10' from the door of the salon. It hasn't turned up....grrrrrrr! Luckily I have the insurance ($50 deduc.) and I'm supposed to get another phone tomorrow but I have to go to a funeral in the morning so I hope I don't miss the delivery. They said I had to sign for it.

Ah me...but things could be much worse. It wasn't credit cards or a wad of cash.

Jackie, I know you're laughing at me!

I'm going to have to borrow that tag "...my brain leaks"!

Paul made some yummy teachers gifts, chocolate dipped strawberries and was playing around with our food injector and figured out that he could inject the berries with liquor. What kind of liquor would you put in choc dipped strawberries. Jackie you can't say Banfi, which btw, I never did get a taste of.

Man...I never got teacher gifts like THAT! (whine)

Some of you may have heard me talking about this on the ship. Staples had made a hostile takeover bid for my company (Corporate Express). We refused. While we were sailing, they made a 2nd offer for more money. We refused.

Well, they offered more money a 3rd time and Corporate Express jumped on it last night....so with in 3 weeks I will be working for Staples!!

Does anyone want an Easy Button??

Lisa

Will this make much difference to you Lisa?

so on the way home some stupid idiot chick almost hit me. And then was completely clueless about it. I had to jump a curb...she came right over in my lane. I was so flippin mad!

Oh my goodness. Are you ok?

Who knows??:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Gretchen (my 11 year old) was VERY upset.....this morning when I found out she said "I can't tell my friends you work for Staples....they will think you run a cash registar!!" :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Ok Since Ken missed out on the performance shots I guess I will have to provide.

Thanks Pj. I thought they needed to be seen again!!!:rotfl:

Another fire has started in the Santa Cruz mountains. Calls for evacuations have been made. Just too scary and too much too soon. Paul just told me it is close to our church camp. Yikees!!! Please send prayers for containment our way.

Oh no. Lets hope they get it contained quickly. So scary.

Here is the pic I took of it...

Must be the worst picture of our 'favourite' dessert!!!!;) So yuk!!! Tasted lovely though. I still have to find the real one at a restaurant somewhere.

Hey Ken, good for you! I think you'll really enjoy it.

I've earned quite a few additional exercises. This evening I tried the rhythmic boxing and really liked it. It was fun and good moving.

I'm still not so sure that I liked the Wii telling me I had the fitness level of someone 12 years older than me!

Don't put up with it - slap it!:hyper:

Good night!

Good news of Manuel and his recovery. It has been a long haul.

Seems like your life in general is so busy John. Keep well.

I would love to start the cruise over again - I would change a few things too. I just had the feeling with you John that you needed to relax in peace after what you had been through. I hope you did feel that benefit.

wish i send it over to your place!

Hope it solve soon.

Our neighbour Quintin passed away in the night. He was just home from hospital a little over 3 days. It is still such a shock as he was fine when we set off on vacation a little over 5 weeks ago. Well, he had apparently had a few headaches that the Doc put down to stress, but this was a very aggressive tumour. At least he is out of pain. Please remember his wife, Jetta, and 2 children. Jetta and Quintin only moved here from Scotland this last New Year.

Yes, I have Handbrake and it's wonderful! It's how I take videos from DVDs and put them on my iPod. Also a good application is Audio Hijack, though that is for audio only, but what it does is capture ANY audio that can play through your Mac, so it could be a broadcast, etc. It's how I take sound off of DVDs.

So sorry. This is awful. :sad1:

Gydell, you've been among the missing and I'm so glad to see you on here now....I certainly have missed you. What have you been up to?

I've had company since I got home. He left yesterday so I have more time now. At least I can go to the pool now!

John, you've got so much going on right now (still). Hang in there! But I'm glad Manuel continues to improve. Good luck on sending out resumes. Maybe your dream job is right around the corner. :cloud9:

Tyler's first day of the summer child care program through his school district was yesterday. He seems to have had fun because they got to swim (and will swim every day for 45 min except for field trip days). I like the program because they still do reading, writing, math, spanish, plus crafts & special activities every day. They're not heavy on the learning like in school, but still do a bit every day so the kids don't forget everything. The kids are still split into classrooms by age, just like in school, and there are 2 kids from his K class attending the summer program, and there are 2 teachers from his other school, so he at least sees a few familiar faces.

Work is going to kill me. I just put on the calendar FOUR Dr. appts (3 for Tyler and 1 for me), plus my appt. with my advisor at my school, all within a month, but now I have to add one more item saying I'll be off for a couple hours next Tuesday. School is doing a family picnic, so of course I can't miss that! Maybe I'll just go for an hour instead of 2. :thumbsup2

The school also provides FREE breakfast AND lunch to ALL kids for the summer! :yay: Way cool! Sure cuts down on my grocery bill.

John, So good to hear from you. I am SO GLAD your brother is doing better.

The job thing really S*CKS.....(and I don't talk like that). We the announcement of Staples finally buying us (July 2008) everyone is looking for work......I am just ready to retire....I wish I could figure that out.

Keep us up to date on the Job Search....Maybe look at Staples Website (I hear they will have some openings!!:rotfl2: )

Marilyn

I am so sorry to heard the sad news.

I was thinking that was happened to us when we came home from Med Disney Cruise last year and my husband got bad news that his best friend died. We were so shocking to heard about it.

Wow - I stay away 1 night and things get moving!

Nan - stay safe....I actually heard about the fires on CNN this morning, then you talk about them here.

John - thanks 1st for the update on Manuel & your dad. Continued prayers for you. Good luck w/ the resumes and the job search--I know it's a pain. Loved the pictures of your performance (sorry I missed it) and loved the story about the nurse asking if you were the famous brother.

Marilyn - to you and prayers for Quintin's family.

Lisa - good luck to you too now that you're going into a new work family. Can you retire?? How was prom? You may have said something but I don't remember....I do remember that you said Vanessa couldn't walk w/ graduation.

Holly - hope summer camp goes well for Tyler...it's good that he'll have some structure and have familiar faces around him.

I know I'm forgetting stuff....I'm sorry....I'll try to go back and re read some.

   to all who need it
